From Appendix A of the book Adobe Photoshop LIGHTROOM CC/6 The Missing FAQ by Victoria Bampton. "The DNG format is openly and completely documented whereas proprietary formats such as CR2, NEF, RAF, etc., aren’t. The question
is, will you be able to find a raw converter in 20 years time that can convert your camera’s proprietary format when that camera model is ancient history? Some of Kodak’s early digital formats are already unsupported by Kodak themselves, so how long will it be before other formats start to go the same way?"
YOUR CHOICE!

Joyce James, I highly recommend purchasing the reference book, Adobe Photoshop LIGHTROOM CC/6 The Missing FAQ. At Amazon the current (Sept 29, 2016) cost of the book, paperback version, is $46.95. A kindle version is also available for $31.95. HOWEVER I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THE PAPERBACK VERSION as the author, Victoria Bampton, gives free downloads of the reference in PDF, ePub, and Mobi/Kindle formats IF YOU REGISTER YOUR PURCHASE. Directions are provided on page 576 where some of the registration benefits are listed. The book is much more than FAQ resource. In fact it is a comprehensive tutorial, INCLUDING ORGANIZING YOUR PHOTOS, a desktop reference manual, as well as an excellent FAQ resource. Have fun, learn bunches! Chief Rob

Thanks to those folks whose serving in the military, past or present, who protected our rights (DUTY?) to vote, whether Democrat, Republican, or cocktail - or even not to vote.

Go to an Apple application (e.g., Text Edit). Then select Edit -> Spelling and Grammar -> Check Spelling While Typing.
Then perhaps you may want to also select Correct Spelling Automatically.
I have both Check Spelling While Typing AND Correct Spelling Automatically checked.
Now OXS has taken over typos and grammar checker: for the first time you do not have to use or maintain a separate spelling checker for each program you use. ANOTHER FIRST FOR APPLE copied by Microsoft.

Good luck with your left knee replacement. My left knee replaced Nov 2006, right knee replaced April 6, 2016. Still doing PT every morning. Keep up your good work, you will feel the result - in "lumps" by my experience. God bless! PS: the photos don't mind waiting! Very Respectfully, Chief Rob

The title of her book is "Adobe Photoshop LIGHTROOM CC/6 The Missing FAQ. This book provides a written tutorial and also serves me as a ready reference when I get into LR problems (after all the software is sophisticated and extremely capable.) On Amazon the paper version is priced at $46.95 today, June 7, 2016. I highly recommend the paper version as Victoria Bampton, the author, provides a number of additional benefits when you register your paper purchase, including access to eBook downloads (PDF, ePub and Mobi/Kindle formats). Good luck in your learning and processing! Chief Rob

Dear Collie lover

I was taught (trained?) to address all ladies from the age of three (3) to more aged than am I (over 76!) as Ma'am to be RESPECTFUL. Please try to understand that most who use the term Ma'am are showing our regard and honor. Decades of practice are extremely difficult to break!
Very Respectfully,
Chief Rob

I suggest you purchase the reference book, Adobe Photoshop LIGHTROOM CC/6 The Missing FAQ by Victoria Bampton. It is sold at Amazon paperback version for $45.78 or Kindle version for $25.95. I suggest you purchase the paperback version as if you register the purchase (see page 576) there are several benefits, including ebook downloads (PDF, ePub, and Mobi/Kindle). The book includes not only how to do but also, in many cases, why!

Madman, why are you standing by a P2V? I served on the USS Lake Champlain, USS Essex, USS Wasp, USS America, and retired off the USS John F Kennedy in 1976 while serving in VS-32.

Thank you for your service.

Jerry, I have an iMac and currently have a 4TB LaCie Thunderbolt external drive with all my Lightroom photos and their associated catalog.
While the drive is expensive it is fast and effective. I only turn the drive on during iMac boot or when I want to work with my photos.
I am very pleased with this drive.
Good luck in your quest.
PS: I also have a number of portable USB 2 & 3 portable drives (various brands) for use during traveling for photos and for MacBook backups. Pleased with all but be selective for the drive to computer interface (i.e. USB and not another interface). Chief Rob
