Had a chance to play with an Olympus E-M5. Must say I'm quite impressed with this small camera. All shots taken with the 75-300mm lens. I think it may be time to upgrade from my E-520.
I used to live off Flatlands Ave & 108th in the early '60s. Not that far from where Starrett City/Spring Creek Tower is today. Can't imagine homes in this area being worth $500,000. I guess all that work they're doing on the Belt Pkwy is helping to increase home values.
I spent my early childhood in "The Projects", Flatlands Ave & 108th until 1965 when we moved to Long Island. I live in Allentown, Pa now but often go back to LI to visit family & friends and pass through Brooklyn. Always dread the Belt Pkwy, for as much construction as that road has gone through, it always seems to be in terrible shape. Your photo of Starrette City brings back memories, I remember seeing commercials on TV for it when it was 1st built.
Look forward to seeing more photos.
This actually happened years ago with our cat. My wife put a load of laundry in the dryer and then went upstairs. I came home a short time later and the dryer sounded like it was out of balance, when I opened the dryer to straighten out the load, I saw our cat in there. Luckily, it was a load of towels, they helped provide enough of a cushion against the dryer to prevent any serious injury. We now always check before closing the dryer door.
That is too funny! Thanks for sharing.
Depends on what type of photography you're looking to do and how much are you willing/able to spend. I have the same lenses 12-60 & 70-300, If I had the money, I'd upgrade to the 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 and add the EC-14 Teleconverter. The 70-300mm is a good lens for the money but focusing is slow and you need good light. But that's me, I like wildlife photography.
Great stop action shot, just wish you were on the other side of the street so that biker would be facing you
Super sharp shot. Magnificent wingspan, gotta love it.
Now that's funny. Thanks so much for sharing
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. The 2nd photo was originally to be a shot of the building (bait shop) that stands in the background. A jogger came by so I moved off to the side to allow them to pass, and when they did I noticed their reflection in the water. So I got myself in position and waited for another jogger to pass the same spot. Ended up with a much better photo than I had anticipated.
Awesome image here. Agree with Nikonian72, click on download to really appreciate this shot.
Anything involving chocolate must be good. My mom's homemade cheesecake spoiled me against store bought, there's just no comparison. Your cake looks good, but you'll need to send me a small piece for a taste test. I'm not greedy, half should be enough.
We all need "Me" time, it helps clear our heads and keep us sane.
I like the idea of a vertical crop here, but to me it's a bit too tight, especially above the head. Maybe give her a little more space on top & left.
I'm sure it was a case of self defense, paper towels are notorious for sneaky, random attacks on cats. Either that or perhaps Tessla was just trying to clean up some milk she spilled.
