I took these yesterday while waiting for my student to get out of the house.
This is near Starrete City in Brooklyn,NY.
(#1)These houses are half a million a piece. I guess this is what it comes down too just living in boxes.
(#2) Starrete City
(#3) There are going to be more house and stores back there.
I took these with theSX160, I'm still trying to get use to. (so don't laugh too much)

I used to live off Flatlands Ave & 108th in the early '60s. Not that far from where Starrett City/Spring Creek Tower is today. Can't imagine homes in this area being worth $500,000. I guess all that work they're doing on the Belt Pkwy is helping to increase home values.

I would have to be desperate to rent one of those and purchasing one would be totally out of the realm of consideration!

Guess it comes down to what you get "use to".

I live In Canarsie where there are normal houses(well Normal to me), and I can't get use to even looking at them when I drive in there or past there on Flatlands Ave. Apparently, people are buying them up like candy.
Near there I heard there will be low income housing buildings.
I said how could you put low income housing next to 1/2 mill houses.
Go figure New York!

How far do you have to drive, Kaz before you find farm lands?

Brooklyn is considered the city. So, Maybe upstate NY there would be farm 100 or so miles give or take a few. Canarsie was once a farm land. We do have converted Barns out here, now they look like barn houses.
About 5 or 6 years ago there was a corner house that had a barn and a garage. The 3 sister who lived there sold it and now there are 3 three family houses there.
With link below you can see some of old and new Canarsie.

ok I got a few

1) just a bungalow
2)could have been a bungalow and rebuilt like the way they are doing to 3
The way I hear it, a while back Canarsie was farm land and a beach resort area. So the bungalows were only for Summer vacation. Then people started living here all year long so they winterized them and stayed.
These are across the street from me.
I hope y'all enjoy

Very nice Kaz.
they started to do that on the island where I lived.
The woman whom owned a goodly portion of the water front had cottages and as she aged she could not manage the up keep any longer and sold the cottages to former tenants. They in turn got a steal and turned them into full time usage homes for when they wanted a get away during the winter months.
