Assuming these stolen cameras are state-of-the-art, wouldn't they have GPS features? Could that assist law enforcement in some way?
That is a lot of equipment for your church to buy for such limited use. I think you could get by on less, but you should plan and practice ahead. I've shot directory pics for my volunteer organization of about 250 individuals. I found a isolated part of a room with a plain white wall, using radio control transmitter/recvr (cheaper Cactus brand), a key/fill/back light. Howerver, I do pp in Photoshop, and that is another story but I don't know how involved you want or need to get into all this.
You can use cheaper strobe lights-but important to use remote control as even voltage in non-OEM battery powered strobes can damage dlsrs. There are a lot of older Vivitar 283's (classic workhorse) out there that could be used cheaply. IMHO I just don't think your church has to spend hundreds of dollars for a bunch of equipment for such a limited use.

that is why we need to get rid of Politicians and their term limits and their pensions. They do not deserve any of them
Be wary with possible results of 'term limits,' what may happen will be professional staff and lobbyists 'guiding' the inexperienced and revolving door representatives through the intricacies of Washington BeltWay politics. How can we monitor back door policies, and who do we blame then?
I have a barn door frame, it originally mounted on a Lowel DP light. If you are interested I can send a picture, specs.
Lt Dan? Did you go the PX route? I was able to order a Nikon F black body, with standard prism for $125 in 66/Vietnam. That was more than a half months pay then. Wish I had kept it, lot of memories…
I'm not a spider expert, but it that a 'brown widow?'

Thank you Blues for the recognition. I visited and decorated several family graves this weekend, some who were veterans. One in particular, (wife's uncle), a medic, who was killed going out to help the wounded just after D-Day landing. I love this quote:
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men that died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."

Used this on my Bronica ETRS 645 camera, Like-new condition with original box and instructions, Gives the photographer the confidence that his camera is secure, comfortable to use, and position of flash over the lens gives a flattering strobe coverage. $25 plus S/H (estimate no more than $10, PayPal CONUS.
I have the honor of a pair of Phoebes nesting on top of a keystone above my front porch area. I need to document their progress. Great shots BTW.
I absolutely love this photo, especially the fog's effect on the whole picture, and the 'layers' of tree lines. Very nice.
The day is young so I know this topic is going to get a lot of attention. I remember talking to a businessman who needs to hire qualified and competent drivers to deliver his products, which he faces an uphill battle with so many DUI's and drug offenses out there. I'm probably showing my age when I can remember actually competing for a minimum-wage job when I was young.
Times have changed.
Please, I would like one. I have an old Photomic F it would work on. I'll send a PM, thank you.
How about a very slow shutter speed, lower ISO, coupled with 'rear-curtain' mode, and using a strobe while panning with action?
This would give you a motion blur but the stone freezes the action. Could produce a nice effect.
Wow, you are jumping into the video scene with both feet. Not to discourage you but there can be a steep learning curve with using editing software, specifically understanding and setting up the settings. I'm talking about codec, frame rates and so on. It is also important on allocating destinations on the computer and hard drives for workflow, enough memory (in terabytes) for storage is a must. Understand how your finished-videos are going to be viewed (YouTubes vs HD), that will determine shooting and editing, say 720 vs 1080.
On audio, well that is another discipline that deserves a healthy respect. DLSR's are not the best recording device for capturing quality sound.
I'm not trying to intimidate you, rather inserting a reality check. There are a lot of things to learn to become a competent videographer. Knowing your equipment is key. Be assured you will make mistakes, but learn from them. Good sources to learn are YouTube, and Lynda.com, worth subscribing to. Good luck.

I was looking for references on video applications and was hopeful that there was a separate category for video applications. Just bought a Canon XL H1 video camera and already have a Nikon 7000. I want to get a lot better with video and after just a little bit of research - there is a whole lot of STUFF that I don't know about. More controls on this XL than I care to mention and the Canon Manual sure doesn't do me justice. And then there is the audio - man I could spend a fortune on this. Just bought the Magix Professional Editing Software. Going to clinics to get into the GoPro video camera.
Any comments on a basic to intermediate book, reference or web site?

The original poster's problem, as I quoted was the same as mine, was an internal problem, not the end mount. Thank you anyway-should I ever need this, although I avoid plastic mounts which seem to come with 'kit' lenses.
