These photos are from the Yukon, the Alaskan ones were stolen in a suitcase.

Ah, the joys of the 59 Ford Galaxie! I had one. Big iron for sure. Great pics Mike. I also left Fairbanks 4 months before you got there, and I saw the Garden of License Plates 12 years ago and it is hugely bigger now. Thousands more plates!

Like the B&&W photos. Want to do a road trip from Southern California to Alaska and back. Or I could fly to Alaska and rent a car to drive back while taking photos.

Or you could take the ferry from Washington to AK drive around in your own car and take the hiway back. A superb trip that way.

Do not be concerned if you've never heard of the Hastings Road; its neither famous nor is it likely to be on anybody's bucket list. But if you ask some of the long time river runners, or potentially, one or three of the vaguely sentient denizens of the town of beautiful Green River, Ootah, they might reply, and point and say, 'its up over that way.' Whether they know where it is or not.

The Hastings Road runs along the Green River. Its in Grand County, whereas the town of Green River is in Emery County, so if you do ask any of the residents of Green River, it might be a little like asking somebody who lives in, say, Iceland, where Beaver Springs, Oklahoma, USA is, and most likely they'll reply in Icelandic. Which, unless you happen to understand Icelandic, you might not understand what that Icelander said, and won't learn where the Hastings Road is. Even though --if the Icelander gesticulates appropriately-- you might infer that its 'over that way.'

Or so I expect. And no, you can't see the Green River from this place. Its 'over that way.'

OK Marty, where is the Hastings Road, or Green River? I see neither in this wonderful "but" road. Er, "Butte" road.

Unaccompanied minors versus separating families is an important distinction. Did you think I said Flores was initiated under Obama when I referred to their administration of it as compared to the family separation policy initiated under trump? I merely referenced their intent and administration/implementation and duration of current immigration policy including the Flores agreement.

The family separation was actually as a result of a court order. When in illegal is apprehended with children, and the parent is deported due to criminal activity, the child is not deported as they are not the criminal. So, a separation has then occurred and there is no clear path to releasing the child. You should quit listening to the radical left for your news and read the legal opinions and court orders. You certainly would be better informed.

You should read the Flores agreement. It does not address the un-accompanied children that are in detention. What would you do with them? Just throw them out on the street? And, BTW, the Flores agreement was in Clintons time, not Obama.

For all those that just accept things, and not do the research: Obama committed to sending the Paris accord 3 billion dollars. Of that 1 bn was contributed, so Trump was saying, in effect, we can cut emissions without sending you guys 2 billion dollars. It comes out of every citizens pocket, one way or the other, so don't be too glad that we are rejoining it.

Look at the effect of new policies. Stop fracking, stop mining coal, stop Keystone pipeline. Go back to the Arabs for oil and let them dominate our energy policy. Of course, we could just give Soligen another 500 million and let them steal it and go bankrupt. Or did we forget that?

The USA needs to stop the trump illegal, immoral, inhumane and criminal policy of family separation.

The pens used to house children were actually built by Obama. He was not the first to separate families, and probably will not be the last.

I agree. I was trying to chimp with my d700 some years ago and thought that it was not taking the picture. For now, the Sony a7III has a viewfinder as well as the back viewscreen. There is no lag from button press to picture capture, unlike many lower grade cameras.

I have been photographing street murals several years. The talent that is portrayed on the streets never ceases to amaze me. One encounters many obstacles when doing this type of street photography. 1. Cars and trucks parked in front of the murals. 2. Fenced in lots around parking lots, etc. For the first obstacle, I have found that shooting early on Sunday morning gives me the best results. Most businesses are closed and traffic is usually very light until later in the morning after church lets out. As far as #2, I got creative and mounted a small tirpod head on the top of a adjustable paint pole. I use this pole to elevate over fences, or to get a better view of the mural. The pole can also be used to lower smartphone almost to the ground over small puddles etc to get a different view. Anyway, the first image shows how I made the pole. Materials were a 6ft adjustable paint pole from Home Depot. I also added a small adjustable Joby ballhead. This allows me to position the IPhone holder at just the right angle. The last two images gives an example of what I ran into recently and how I overcame it by using the pole.

I have been doing this for a while only use my 35mm on the pole and trigger it with my cell phone tethered. That way I can look at the shot before I take it.

Hi. I would like to know if anyone is familiar with or has the Sony RX100 VII. Any thoughts/recommendations on this camera or similar camera would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a good, small, fit in your pocketbook take everywhere camera that has a zoom lens. It would not replace my 7100 camera.

Thank you.

I have one and it fits well into a coat pocket. It is not optimum in low light, but in all other instances it is superb.
