You can not calibration an ais lens .
There really is no kit lens there just lens that came with the camera I don't know why people call them kit lens these lens can be bought with out the camera so I guess there no longer called kit lens .
The problem with shooting blacks is the light is absorb where as the light is reflected in whites I've had this problem when I did weddings the thing you can do is photoshop to lighten there skin only this is not unusual other than that you exposure is right on .

I use a tamron 28-85 f2.8 95% of the time shouting weddings and I shout close to 300 of them.
Canon doesn't do refunds there done by an out side source that why it take so long 5 to 6 weeks is normal no sense having a hart attack over it .
My mistake it was a D version not a G version I like the D version because you can adjust the aperture when using a bellows you can't do that with a G version.
