There lies the rub. If the NGC catalog calls this a globular cluster, then why are you trying to separate it from any other globular clusters? All I'm saying is what has always been and still is considered a globular cluster, might actually be the core of a Galaxy. Yes it too lies outside the core of our own Milkyway, but considered part of it.

Excuse me, CalTech, the Palomar Observatories, and the Royal Astronomical Observatory catogrize globular clusters as existing in the halo of galaxies. EarthSKy.org, "Globular clusters orbit in the halo of our galaxy. Plus, center around the galaxy’s core and expanding above and below the galactic disk. Open star clusters tend to orbit within the disk."

Spectral analysis shows that Globs have no metals like stars in our galaxy, only hydrogen and helium. This indicates that Globular Clusters are very old, dating from the formation of the Milky Way.

I found this graphic on the web. Globular clusters are massive collections of stars that did not get swept up into the galaxy when it was formed.

This is a fast F-mount prime lens that I purchased "just in case" that I don't think I have ever used. I am not the first owner, so there are some exterior rub marks, but the lens performs splendidly. ART is the professional series of lenses from Sigma, and this is a metal-body-lens, made in Japan. Reviewers have commented on the high quality optics of this lens, especially when compared to Nikon's much more expensive version. There is no box for this lens, but it comes with both caps and original lens hood.

The attached picture of a Lily, taken this morning with this lens, is not supposed to be great photography by any means, but my wife likes me to take pictures of her garden.

This price is $300 net to me. Buyer pays shipping (usually about $12-$15) and PayPal fees if you choose to use PayPal (recommended). I would also accept Venmo, Zelle or a check.

Please send me a Private Message with interest and any questions. I really dislike business discussions appearing publicly on the forum.

I have made many friends selling my excess inventory here, and I have a 100% positive feedback rating. I'm looking forward to meeting the next owner of this lens.

Thanks for looking.

Sigma ART lenses on Nikon F bodies were always incredible.

I grabbed the file from the downloads folder and dropped it onto the SDHC (F:) drive. I figured it is the only file on the card it had to work.
Please explain how I direct the file to the root directory. Thanks

If you format in the camera, there are two folders created DICM and FFDB. Do not drop the firmware file in either of those (aka the Root directory).

Having trouble updating my Fuji xt-30 to the new firmware (2.01).
I went to the fuji website and downloaded the 2.01 upgrade. My xt30 is currently using the version 1.41.
In the download files, the new download file appears as "FWUP0020.DAT" file. Then copied to a formatted card. When I insert the card, and attempt to update the camera, I get an error message that says;
NEW FIRMWARE NOT BE FOUND.
TURN OFF THE CAMERA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I learned from Fuji tech support that ALL firmware upgrade files are named FWUP0020.DAT (go figure).
Format the card in the camera, remove it, and connect to your computer.
Copy the firmware file to the ROOT directory of the SD card
Place in X-T30s card slot.
Holding down the DISP BACK button, turn on the camera.
You should see the current firmware displayed.

The firmware download screens on the att video are a bit outdated, but the process is the same. Note where the firmware file is placed on an SD card formatted in the camera.

Not flashy, not even pretty, but I can say I'm happy with this.
Black and White. HA7nm filter only. 20 images aligned and stacked.
I did lighten it in Photo Shop. But I liked how it came out with just the Hydrogen Alpha filter.
No others used.
Download to see the detail.

Really nice capture.

Ok, forget all the negatives you've heard; Photoshop Beta Generative Fill is nothing short of amazing. If you are a SOCC type, read no further, go to the next post. But, if you, like me, appreciate the intricacies of post processing, Generative Fill will blow you away.

The base image is of the Walter Pyramid at Cal State University Long Beach (Go Beach!) the largest space frame building in North America. Extremely photogenic, and on this clear day, the blue of the building literally merges with the blue of the cloudless sky.

But a lot is possible with a little imagination and Generative Fill.

The first image, I added a whip cream and cherry topping. Notice how the AI algorithm added a sun reflection on the cherry facing the axis of sunlight. The second was a simple sky replacement and the addition of a lake.

Even if you are not into extreme effects, G.F. is incredible at deleting objects that I used to use the healing brush for.

My external drive, which held all my pictures, has crashed and is no longer available. I fortunately have a backup of all the photos and however, my LR Catalogue refers to the no longer available drive. How can I get LR to find those photos that are now on another drive?

Key learning: Single external HDs are not a reliable long-term storage location. Get yourself a Synology dual-bay NAS, with two HDDs of identical size (mine are all 6Tb or 8Tb), set up for RAID Mirroring. Raid Mirroring makes a real-time copy of each drive, so if one fails, you swap out the defective drive for a new one, and it is automatically rebuilt without any file loss. Copy your backup over the network to the NAS disk 1.

Then import a new catalog into Lightroom from the NAS. Whatever the cost of the NAS and two drives, it is nowhere near the stress and hassle of losing an HDD or forgetting to back up.

Does anyone know of an easy App for an Android phone that will make the background black. I saw someone use this feature on an I-phone and it makes the foreground "pop"
Mainly with portraits. I could use my m4/3 or my Sony 6000 but often the phone is the camera that I have with me
Thanks,

You could easily do it in the Lightroom Develop panel, then export as a JPG for your 'Droid.

Great shot. That filter works well to keep the stars from overwhelming the image.

The filter restricts all visible light and only allows Ha and O3 wavelengths to predominate. I control the stars with Lightroom's Texture slider.
