Anyone who loves horses (like her & me) will love this picture! In fact, having part of the horse in it improves it ! :-) Wonderful shot. Excellent work

Thank you! I too am a 'horser'! My horses have learned to 'pose' when I get the camera out! It's so cute! :)

Here are two more. I promise I won't get defensive about these! That first one is just one of my very favorites...I shouldn't have gotten so defensive about it. I'm sorry. Please forgive me?

I shall be honest and just admit that any image of a beautiful young lady like this is more than OK for me!
With forums that ask for 'critiques' there is often a strong temptation to turn that into 'criticisms' and some see that as an invitation to tell you what they see as 'wrong' with the image. But, I really like it.
Just as an observation I would say that this might be seen as a great image for a magazine advertisement for that jacket manufacturer!

Thank you! She has all her show shirts hand made for her. But if that woman ever makes it a business, I will definitely contact her about that!

not everyone knows photo editing skills. none of the humor was done at your expense, and if you think about it it is funny. don't take things in life so seriously. I did say i like your photo but thought it would be better in color.

I know it wasn't pointed at me. And I can see the humor in the photo. And I thank you for liking the photo an I'll try to find the original for you to see. I turned it black and white because her shirt is very bright pink and purple and I felt it pulled away from her face. Guess it just brought out the horses butt instead. Oh well, ya win some, ya lose some.

do you let the software decide your black and whites or do you make the adjustments? try making the decisions for your self and darken things a bit so the saddle doesn't blend in with the sky and then your contrast between horse and girl will be more pronounced. this is a great shot, just needs a bit of adjusting.

No...I made the decisions on the adjustments. The horse is tied to a trailer so that part won't change. Not much I can do with a bland silver background. My main concern in taking the photo was obviously the girl. And it wasn't a photo that was posed. She was brushing her horses tail before she went in the showering and they were announcing the next class over the loud speaker and she turned her head to look and I just snapped. I agree that I could have set it up a little better...but I don't think her expression could have ever been replicated. Thanks for saying it's a great shot

I think that it's a great image, well composed..

My only criticism may be that there is very little contrast between the cowgirls face and the horse..

I very much agree with you. Although it looks a bit better printed out. Any ideas on how to fix that?

Use selection tool on the horses backside in Photoshop and use sliders to darken it or use Nik Vivesa to selectively change.

Thank you for being someone to actually help me by giving tips instead of making jokes about my photo. :) I will definitely try that!

Not direct to you..but your buddy ..who seems to have a bug up his arss for me..lol. good luck with the shot...BTW you may want to ask folks who are using your pic..if space need for type.

They didn't buy the rights to the photo so they are not allowed to alter it in any way. And I am printing and matting it for them. They are using it for an auction to help raise money for their division of Delta Waterfowl.

The colors in #3 are amazing! I love sunset...it usually brings the prettiest settings for photos. It's a hanger for sure!

The collar is the right color in the original. It is a hunting collar and is hunter orange. I wasn't going for anything special with the High Pass...I just like the way it looks! :)I like 'out of the norm'.

Well thank you. I don't know if that was an insult to me...but...I believe everyone on here has a life. For a lot of us photography is our love and our job, it's the way we pay the mortgage, keep food on the table for our families. So absolutely...MY LIFE IS PHOTOGRAPHY!

So here are my two favorites. The colors in the original make me think 'dreamy' so that's kinda what I went for. Second one kinda the same thing but I blurred the water a little bit and toned down the goose. But for some reason I can't get the reflection to also tone down...
