We are used to the natives as we had many of them at our old home. If you want to look at the pictures there are many of them. I know I won't see as many big bucks as the area by the old house was in the city and there was no hunting there. The wildlife area they had to roam in the city covered many acres and it joined the side and back of our property. We had many days when I was leaning over the 4 foot fence 6 feet away from a doe and her fawns. As you say it will take a while for these deer to get used to us as the old owner had a dog that ran loose. We keep our English Cocker on leash except when play in the yard and then he doesn't get close to the area where the deer hang around. Thanks for looking David
We moved from the Twin Cities to a hobby farm and haven't been on the UHH site much because of the items needing repair. So here are a few shots of the critters roaming the alfalfa.
I know your there on the deck.
We're still watching you closely and don't trust you yet.
Break time.
Wonderful shots, fun to get close to them in their habitat.
Thank you Jean, they were both very photogenic the other day. It made my part easy to get good shots.

Very nice. Love the last one.
Thanks Marilyn, the warmer weather makes it easier to get outside and shoot more than a couple shots and to walk in the woods.

very nice Greg.
The boys are still chasing the girls around and they are really busy lately.
I'm big but watching out for mr. bigger!
Mr. bigger
Great shot Jim, this bird is ready to take on the world.
The rut here starts in late October and runs to late January to early February. Most of the does being chased right now are fawns from this year by the size of them I've seen. They seem so young but were probably the earliest drops of the spring and are just coming into estrus now.
I'm hoping to get out and shoot a few of the chasing's around here if it gets to 25 or so this weekend. Great shot of the girls Marilyn, they look healthy and comfortable.
Nicely done Marilyn, they are such caring animals and when defending their young they are ruthless. Lately they are herding up here in MN and many of the young are in estrus and being chased by the bucks. They are running all over in the woods by our house and it is amazing to watch.
Nice touch Emm5, great to see you made rpavich food magazine cover page.
Greg
Great shots rpavich, is this a low carb diet your working with?
Great works of art Erv and yes I think Janny is right. The natural wood looks great, if anything maybe just a clear coat to seal for ease of dusting. What king of wood is the nativity made out of and how long to carve that one?
Greg
This buck was chasing this fawn around for about 10 minutes in the woods behind our house. I went out along our fence and was shooting over the fence as the big buck had chased off 2 smaller bucks in the area and didn't want any confrontation with him in his area. It was around 4:10 or so when I got the picture and much brush in the way. I shot it at 1/1000 at 6.3 with a D90 and 18-270 lens at 270. They were about 50 yards away in the brush so not a real clear picture. This is my first capture of a buck trying to mount a doe.
She wasn't ready quite yet, but he is determined.
Best of wishes to you and your family Gene, Happy New Year to you.
