Have you used Topaz? They would let you have a free try - it is the same program they use for the Times Square billboard

I have three landscape photos I would like to print very large. Two of them have water and mountain views, and one is a shoreline and trees covered in snow. I'm having a difficult time deciding which would be the best option for the subjects. Thanks for any help offered.

They all look quite good!! You may need to use Topaz to enlarge your image before you send it - it works very well

When I studied with Ansel Adams, an exact quote is “The image captured by your camera is only the starting point for creating the image in your mind” - of course you work on your image

Not sure if made for the Sony, but a 18-300 is what I usually have on my camera when I don't need something else- what you are getting suggested have no width at all - for real estate the 18 would probably work a lot of the time - although I would be using my 8-16

And - elevate your camera to at least the head level of the highest head - you don't want to be looking up at them - by all means avoid direct sun, and you don't want a background that is more interesting than they are

[quote=kymarto]It's not so much that the final image is that much better, especially at f8 or so. What you are paying for is the larger aperture, better stabilization, better AF, and much better build quality. If you don't need those, the cheaper option will serve.[/quote. And your back will be much happier

When you shoot in black and white you are allowing some program in your camera to decide what your image should look like - you can do much better using Photoshop and doing it yourself

Using Photoshop allows you to pretty much make the conversion do whatever you want it to

I've done things in my life that I didn't run home and tell my mother about

BUT I'VE NEVER TAKEN A PIC WITH A GDAMN PHONE. I have cameras for that. Harry

The iPhone has very good metering (unless you are shooting into the light) - but - plan on using Photoshop on the image - which I have made display 16x20's from - the only bad picture is the one you don't take, and as the phone is in your pocket you have little excuse

A mix of nitric acid and chlorine bleach with ammonia could be interesting. No one has ever tried it for your purposes. You could become a real pioneer.

As a chemistry major I would be a bit carful with that - ammonia will tend to react violently with the acids, and the chlorine bleach could evolve chlorine
