I have been running Windows 8 for about 6 weeks. It was the only option with my new computer which is optimized for photographic applications. No problem with Photoshop or any other photo programs, but Windows 8 does not support Comcast email, nor are drivers available for my scanner, which is now rendered useless. Windows 8, in general, is, in my opinion, an example of premature birth. Rushed into production for the sake of having a new OS, but with way too many bugs. Also not very intuitive in my view.

Also have you checked with the Scanner Manufacturer for the latest Drivers, Canon supplied to my e-mail request in less than 24 hrs
Can see no Bench, is this like those "Spot Wally" books, etc
Agree with all who say Install do not upgrade over any OS.
When you down load you have various options, Chose to download and burn to DVD or USB, then when installing chose to keep Files and Data
It will ask for an e-mail address but cannot access POP servers only IMAP or an on line e-mal like Hotmail, Gmail etc so if you have none of these create one before installing, and use it to create your Log-In Profile
A little strange to operate at first but not that difficult and you can always run in Classic mode.
All programmes installed since work OK and many Drivers are already installed.
Advice on RAM, if you are operating a 32Bit Computer the Max. Ram you can install is 4 Gb, a 32Bit system only uses just over 3Gb any more is not used
