No. I was advised by an engineer at B+W to avoid them. That was even though they manufacture a VND filter. The reason being a notorious, and unpredictable X that can appear in photos taken through a VND filter.

Having an engineer tell me to avoid using a product the company, for whom they work, makes was good enough for me.

There will be some naysayers who will state they never have a problem. They are lucky.

I am.one of those people who Hanover had a problem. I think the notorious X problem may be the result of turning the polarizing filter the wrong way.

I got an email from the Wall Street Journal. The subject said something about "some of our most important stories," and "free to read." Hah. I found an interesting story about the the realignment of college football. Just as I got started I got a prompt that said that I if want to read the rest of the article I could get a membership.

Free to read my eye.

It is like those free to play apps. You can play the game but you have to buy upgrades to win. Hence the term pay to win.

I took some photos on July 25 that got file names that were numbered 1160394.jpg through 1160408.jpg.

Later on the 25th I placed the SD card into my computer and moved the files to a folder on my hard drive. I moved (not copied) so that the originals were removed from the SD card. I then ejected the SD card, being careful to instruct the PC to eject it rather than just manually pulling it, and put it back into the camera. This is the procedure I have been using ever since I got the camera years ago.

Several days later, when I started to download the next set of photos using the same procedure as above, I noticed that the images taken from 7/26 through 8/1 also had file names numbered from 1160394.jpg through 1160408.jpg. Had I not noticed that and ignored any kind of warning that I would have gotten, I could have overwritten the images from 7/25. Luckily I didn't and renamed the files before placing them into the same folder.

But this should not have happened. The camera retains the last used file name number and automatically starts incrementing from that on the next shot. There is a way on the camera to reset that number, or at least parts of it, but I most certainly did not do that.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Any idea what caused it?

There is a setting in your camera menu that allows you to set the file numbering to start from 1 or to continue from the previous file number. You seem to have numbering starting from 1 set.
I made this mistakes once and lost a lot of photos because they first set was over written by a later set.

Try formatting the cards using the format commsnd in the menu.
SD cards usually have the speed in MB/s printed on the label beside the speed class of the card. For example, 30 MB/s the sped class is a number from 1 to 10 enclosed in the center of the letter C.

You might try this. It sometimes works.
Remove the disk drive from your computer. Wrap it in an airtight plastic bag with as little air as possible.
Put it in a freezer for a few hours. Remove the drive from the freezer and connect the power and data cables to the computer. Do not bother to install it in its bay.
Try to copy all the files to a another storage location such as another hard drive.

I have never done this myself but I have heard computer techs talk about this trick.

I much prefer the uncropped version.
It has good balance, nice framing and the water in the middle ground has intetesting colour.

Each side of a sheet counts as 2 pages. Of course there are usually several blank, un-numbered sheets.

You might try Dark Table as a Raw processor and Gimp instead of Photoshop.
Both are open source so you stand to lose only time by trying them.

Corel also has Aftershot Pro 3 and PaintShop Pro. Both have a trial period.

In Ontario it is a 6" red circle to denote no trespassing.
A yellow circle indicates entries for some activities is permitted. The user must determine what uses are permitted before using the area.

[quote=Stray Goose]Covid restrictions willing, I am planning a two to three week tent camping road trip with my wife to Newfoundland in September. Im am looking for suggestions for picturesque places to go to with sightseeing and photography in mind. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Wendell[/quote

Almost any direction you point your camera in Newfoundland will result In a beautiful photo.
For sure visit Gros Morne Nafional Park and St Johns. If you have time, visit St Anthony on the northern peninsula. We saw 12 moose and 2 caribou in one day on our trip up there.
If you are tent camping, ve aware that the wind can be unbelievably strong near the water.
There is one place called Blow Me Down. The name is not an exageration.

I'm not familiar with your local flora but it looks like it might be some kind of fire weed.
