Hello everyone. I’d appreciate your comments on this photo. It was captured from the fourth floor using a polarizing filter to reveal the details in the water.

I’ve included the uncropped version for reference.

I much prefer the uncropped version.
It has good balance, nice framing and the water in the middle ground has intetesting colour.

I agree with Brian - the uncropped version has a lot going for it which is lost in the cropped version.
On a more personal note - I much prefer the 2/3 shape.

Before image - if it were me, I'd use the uncropped version.

I’m with the others. I prefer the The uncropped because of the interesting foreground. I must add that the pano version is a whole different picture. It has all the attention on the mountain and it is also excellent. Just different versions for different spots

If it was mine I'd just take a skim off of the bottom. The distant mountains are strong enough that they can take a bit of competition from the foreground. As framing elements the trees don't intrude too much and the empty beach doesn't impede further exploration of the shot, but it's pleasant enough to warrant including it.

Thanks for all your comments. I honestly thought the palm trees in the foreground were too distracting and was willing to crop out the beautiful water to take them out. I still like the cropped version but feel a lot better about the uncropped version as Carol said.

Between the two, I prefer the cropped version. To me, the fronds in the lower left take up too much area. However, I do think it could be cropped in a way to make use of the fronds as a frame that's not quite as intrusive. Again, my opinion. I can share here if you're interested.

Thank you, his feedback was definitely helpful. It like to understand why someone liked or didn’t like a photo and any suggestions for improvement as I continue to grow. I’ve been at it a year as a more serious hobby and UHH is a big reason for where I am now.
