I just got back on Sunday from there. Use the 18-300 you will need the reach for the glaciers. We went to Hubbard Glacier our pilot got us to 1/2 mile of the glacier. It was amazing. The weather up was foggy & somewhat eco I go back.
I rained in Juneau but stopped when we got to Mendenhall. Sitka was over cast but dry & Ketchican was sunny. So we got the whole range of weather. You won’t need your prime so leave it at home.
You Americans are always about the guns.
New mount means new lenses again. No thanks. Nikon doesn’t listen to it consumers that’s why it’s in the position it’s in now.
No thanks. I dumped Nikon years ago for Fuji. I won’t look back. I’m sure Nikon will pull the same old crap it always did. In order to get the latest system you have to constantly buy a new camera. I like the fact Fuji does firmware upgrades at no charge. I have desire to enter into the Nikon arena again.
True but it really depends on where your going & what your seeing. It would help if we could know where your travelling too.
Having travelled to Europe many times. I shoot Fuji so I take my 18-135 always. It gives me the wide angle that’s great & the zoom that’s good for distance. Ha e a great trip.
I’m going on one too this summer. I used to shoot only with Nikon but switched to Fuji. Love it!
Anyways think about what you are shooting vast wide open landscapes. So I’m taking my 18-135.
Then we are doing a photography tour in Juneau. So I asked them for suggestions, for the land portion still my 18-135 but when we go out on the boat 100-400 for the whales. You want to see your vacation through your eyes not through the viewfinder.
I did set my XT2 to BBF on the AF button on back of camera. But the button is so small I could hardly feel it.
I loved it on my Nikon it was all I used & totally have muscle memory from it being there. I suppose I could use a front button but it’s just not the same. Will have to experiment with it some more.
I found the XT2 ok for my hand size (female) but some guys may want to get a handgrip, I believe it’s Meikie is the name of one. Look at Amazon I think they list one. I still might get one as long as it still fits the pin for my Spiderpro.
I used to shoot Raw only on the Nikon, but once I switched & saw the jpegs, well they are just that good.
I’ve set mine up so I can shoot 3 types at once in the bracket mode. Velvia, Astia & Acros.
I can say I don’t miss processing the raw. If I want oh sure I will do raw or set one card slot to raw & one to jpeg.
Wondering if you can find a place to rent Fuji in your area.
I have the 18-135 which is on most of the time. 100-400 for wildlife, 18-55 which I don’t use as much as I should but it’s really great for just an average wide angle. A Lensbaby Velvet 56 which love on this camera. But keep in mide that they have no autofocus on an off brand lens. But it’s not been a problem. I’ve been thinking of a prime like the 23mm.
My main one is the 18-135 I find this good for most I do, landscape & travel mostly.
A good YouTube to see is Theoria Apohasis, you have to past his quirkiness but he calls em how he sees em.
He has good reviews & whys on the Fuji lens.
I have gone this big for sure. Quality is great.
I’m up in Canada outside of Vancouver. Mine store was renovated but the stores displays are weak. I know more about the cameras than they do. When I go in I’m always selling for them. No lady you don’t want that one this one will suit your needs etc. It’s quite a joke I’ve got going.
