I have been a lifelong user of Nikon cameras dating back to the Nikon F! My latest camera is the D7100 which has been a fine camera. It takes lovely, sharp, well exposed pictures and is extremely versatile. My wife and I love to travel and I take many of my pictures on these trips. However, carrying the Nikon and two lenses for an entire day is getting to be a burden. I do have a Sony RX100 III and sometimes leave the Nikon in the hotel and carry that. I am thinking of trading in the Nikon for the Fuji XT20 and a couple of lenses (short zoom and telephoto zoom). I was wondering if anyone has views on the Fuji and the change I am thinking of making. If you have experience with the Fuji, I would appreciate your thoughts on the lenses.
I have a D7100 and just recently bought a Tamron 18-400 lens and it has been a game changer for me. It's all the lens I need for what I shoot. Travel and grandkids.
I should have added that the major reason for getting the Fuji, would be its lighter weight and size.
Fuji lenses, beyond the kit product are excellent. But, Sigma has announced that they are dropping micro 4/3rds products and are bringing out a Fuji line.

Mmmm ....... you've said that before, and, being a Fuji user since 2013, I've asked you this question in a number of Fuji-related posts, but not, as yet, heard from you nor been able to confirm your comment anywhere.
May I ask you once again to point myself, and probably other interested Fuji users on this forum, to your credible source(s)? Many thanks in anticipation.
To the OP - In just a few short years Fuji has really made its mark - sensor is APS-C as is your Nikon, image quality is without question, terrific J-Peg film simulations, main exposure controls at your fingertips, easy-to-learn menu system, very light in weight and both unobtrusive on the street and easy to hold/manage. All the XF lenses are of the highest quality, even the earlier ones ! One thing to bear in mind in making your choice ..... the X-T20 is really quite small, and certainly in comparison to your Nikon. Please be sure to handle it if you can, to make sure you are comfortable with its size and button usage. If you decide to go with it, be sure also to handle the lenses you're interested in for feel and comfort on that particular body. A comment very common with people moving from DSLR to these Fuji cameras ....... "it's put the fun back into my photography".
Nice simple and quick review from a UK photographer here ......

I still have my D7100, but I primarily use a Fuji XE2s. I highly recommend the “kit” lens, 18-55 mm. I recently purchased a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 used from Adorama. I’ve been using it almost exclusively for the past two weeks. I also have a 60mm for closeups. Fujis are great cameras. I’m loving mine. Eventually, I will trade in / sell the Nikon gear.

The 18-55 “kit” is very good.
First looked at the Fuji XT10 and liked it.
Then the XT20 came out I was really excited!
Now the X E3 is out and really like it over the XT20.
Check out that XE3.
I switched from the 7100 to the xt1 a few years ago and was really pleased with image quality, camera build, including weather resistance, etc. I now have the xt2 with several lenses. Couldn’t be happier, especially with outstanding software updates that include both improvements to existing and new features not ordinarily available until you buy a new body! The xt20 is essentially the same as the xt2, but try fit, etc. it’s a great travel camera!
Look at the reviews and tutorials on the XT10 by Omar Gonzales on YouTube.
As a long time Nikon user , have you considered the little Nikon 1J5 ? Refurbished. I have a FF Nikon, a D7200 and went with the 1J5 for holidays when the bigger bodies and lenses we're just too much.
I have the XT2 and XT20 my travel lens is the 18-135 the forgotten lens, jack of all trades and master of most. I also changed from Nikon and have never regretted it. But you will get everyone on here recommending their own choice. So try all the camera's and lenses you can and decide on whatever suits you.
I use legacy FD and Minolta lenses in my Xt20. Very sharp glass if you dont mind the manual focus
I also am a Nikon shooter but recently purchased the Fuji XT2 and I am really enjoying using it. A great quality camera that takes excellent pictures. It is smaller and lighter - it just feels right. Plan to hold on to my D750 for now but am using the Fuji 100% of the time for now. Good luck with your choice.
Nikon does have small mirror less cameras, I have the J5. Nikon has just started in the mirror less game but if I was to sell/trade in my DSLR equipment and shoot exclusively mirror less... (I'm not quite at that point yet). I would definitely look at Olympus and Fujifilm, they have been in the mirror less game a lot longer than anyone else. Good luck.
