Bench seats in a car is one that I really miss. It was so easy to make as much room on the seat as you wanted. That would most naturally come with the 3-speed on the column. Everything else I can let go.

This may get kicked to the photo gallery, but this post is about food, not photography.

Go to your bookshelf and check your dictionary for greasy spoon. It may show a photo of Abe's Diner!

On my trip from Memphis last week to Charleston, SC, I ran across Abe's Diner in Corinth, MS. This place is one of a kind! It is revered by locals who fill up the seats on a constantly rotating basis. Inside is a long counter with about 12 to 15 stools and they are always full. When it was my time to sit I was welcomed like a neighbor by the others already seated. There was good conversation between everyone there and they recommended a burger with fresh fries which are cut daily. They also recommended a shaker of spices to shake over the fries.

The food was good and the atmosphere was even better. If anyone passes through Corinth, I recommend a stop at Abe's.

I was wearing my VN Vet hat and one gentleman seated beside me left. On his way out he handed me a jar of the french fry spices and thanked me for my service.

Sometimes good experiences will pop up if we keep our eyes open as we drive down the highway of life!

Never heard these guys before, but they are really good. I wish they had left that skinny girl in England though. After awhile in the concert she screams a lot, too much for me. I would rather her the guys play instead of her screeching. Enjoy the "Chicago Blues Reunion".

Mark, have you heard of these guys before? Best Harmonica I've heard in a long time.

I never heard anyone that good on Harmonica. The skinny girl wasn't too bad but the musicians were really excellent. I would like to see them live sometime.

This week’s work load was rough. It started on Monday concluding a two year long contract negotiation with New York City Department of Labor. I will write the contract Thant we fought for didn’t offer everyone everything. We were able to put in place, longevity, raises across the board and have good language for the next generation of kiddos. Tuesday, I was so exhausted that I could not go to work. Mostly I lounged around shaking my head and rereading what we had done. Wednesday came the usual grind of work and constant calls from all asking to see the contract. Thursday and Friday was the same. Many more handshakes and pats on the back from co-workers. Saturday was a day off and my wife, her sister and I head over to the New York Botanic Garden. It is my favorite to see, photograph and enjoy the Orchid Show. (Photos to Follow) Sunday breakfast is a day to indulge my wife, my son, his girlfriend (both from Afton, NY) and I with a nice breakfast. I picked up a bunch of different bagels, cream cheese, Hummus and Lox. I mixed up some honey mustard and dill sauce. I brewed up some coffee and we all sat down at the kitchen table. My son and his girlfriend told us of the Shen Yun show and we shared our weekly events.

I always enjoyed going to the city which I did about three times a year for quite a few years. I haven't been since covid. The Botanic Garden is wonderful and I plan to go again this summer. The subways seem more dangerous than in past years so most likely the trip will be across the Washington Bridge and down the parkway to eliminate the sub ride.

TEMU is totally reputable. I have ordered many things - no problems with returns either.
Several of my watches have come from them.

OK, you got me! I've also ordered several items from TEMU and just ordered a watch! I don't care how accurate it is -- I've always wanted one of those where you can see the inside workings of the watch. It will be a good novelty and provide an interesting photo opt to do some macro shots of the inside.

Given a choice I’ll choose this one thanks.

I'm a watch person. Other than a single, medium-weight silver chain, that is the only jewelry I use. My tastes are above my means so I have several Seiko, Pulsar, and Citizen watches. The one you show just makes me salivate!
Looking at their website, they list a few with prices but most without. I imagine it is one of those situations where if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it. One was listed at over 54,000 and was most likely in the middle price range since it was 18kt. white gold. The one I liked best was platinum and did not show a price. I'll revisit that site if I ever hit "the big one"! Thanks for introducing me to those watches.

Not only is the GPS great for traveling, but it's also good for local driving. I had to drop something off in Woodstock yesterday before continuing on to Catskill. I figured I'd take my regular route through Woodstock, but the GPS had a different idea. It had me turn left and right and left and right on roads I had never taken before. It wasn't until I was a few miles from Catskill that I was on a familiar road. I don't know how much time I saved, but the GPS is set for the shortest time.

This has happened several times when I am at a local location and have to go to another local location. The GPS shows me a route that never would have occurred to me.

I like exploring new places. Often I will head out with the intention of getting lost. If there is a road that ends, I take the left or right -- whichever looks less familiar. After wandering around lost for a few hours, I hit the GPS to take me back home. I call this GPSsing.

One day driving along the Hudson River in Hoboken though, I hit the go home dropdown on the GPS and it told me to take a left at the next intersection -- that would have put me into the river! Sometimes the GPS will take me around two miles and put me back to where I started. Recently I was using it to get me to the airport in Myrtle Beach -- it took me right past the turnoff for the airport and kept saying go 2 miles and continue on Hwy 17. It did this about four times and I was getting so far from the airport I finally turned around and headed back down 17. I saw the airport as I passed and thought it was taking me to the terminal entrance but it was doing something that most likely would have landed me in NC! There is a military air station up that way but the instruction was for the Myrtle Beach International Airport.

The other danger is being in a mountainous area where there is no GPS signal. When that happens, I just continue in one direction until there is a major highway and find my way back to where a signal is available.

I would love one of those! Balanced headphone outputs! I do rip all of my music to lossless file formats. MP3 is shite. I buy from Ray Samuels who hand makes these little beauties. https://www.raysamuelsaudio.com/

Nice, but you can't stick one of those in your shirt pocket!

I agree about MP3 -- too clean it's like taking a portrait and smoothing a person's skin to look like they are made from plastic! I like to hear the full sound like someone's fingers sliding down the strings of a guitar. A lot of ambient sounds that programs like MP3 "see" as noise and eliminate from the recording.

I watched a couple of the newish (1999) "Mummy" movies recently. I'm referring to the three starring Brendan Frasier and Rachael Weisz. "Cast of thousands," amazing special effects, lots of action, and a touch of humor. I watched the first two through Spectrum TV, but one is a $3.99 rental. Netflix has nothing in relation to mummies. I've always liked mummy movies. I guess you could say I'm a mummy's boy. 🤣

Jerry, I just have one question: Do you sleep? Between being the #1 poster on UHH, watching more movies than most of us do, making Ukes and boxes for them, traveling to senior meetings, going shopping, etc., etc. etc., you couldn't possibly sleep much.

B&H has a Walkman digital radio. Looks a lot like a cell phone, the case is pure copper, and the price is a measly 3696.00! What a deal -- sure puts my 69.98 Sony Walkman to shame!

I have a bit of astigmatism so until I put a grid on it, I couldn't really tell if it was the photo or just me. Here is a grid-corrected version.

No, everything in the shot was perfectly straight -- I think I may have been leaning a bit to the left -- LOL!
