This announcement came in the form of a letter sent by FEDEX and UPS, overnight, mailed on Friday the 13th. I'll attach a copy of this letter for all tto see.

In the letter, Nikon states that they will not send parts to repairers who have not been certified by Nikon. The letter also states that repair facilities must be up to date on their outstanding debt. Sounds more like a housecleaning project to get rid of fly-by-night repairers.

[quote=mollymolly]I posted a very sad photo of an Ibis tangled in fishing line and hanging dead from a telephone wire. Admin informed me that they pulled it because many people complained that it was too gory. Come on!! We are all adults !

Gee, thought we were out of the clutches of Disqus!

#2 is a bit like a Jackson Pollock. #3, Politicians beware, if you ride the fence too long, you're likely to loose your seat.

Has someone come up with a grippier substance that can be applied to those release points?

Two strips of a medium coarse sand paper (recommend the black type) and SuperGlue.

We have never been and want to explore in April. I see several of you hail from that area and many more have photographed there.
Could you please suggest what we should not miss. Be specific, please.

It would help if we knew where in the "Carolinas" and for how long. Lots of history, lots of scenery, lots of territory (2 states) to cover. To use your request: "be specific, please."

Just downloaded the Lightroom 4 beta and while installing, a message came up: "Lightroom 4 requires Windows Vista or later".
Guess I'll be sticking with what I got.

Time for an upgrade. Windows 7 over Vista. Or a complete system change to a Mac laptop?

I'm going to be in the Williamsburg VA area on business in March. Does anyone have thoughts on great photography spots? I like to take my camera along on these trips and get out when I can.

Anywhere in the historic area. And don't forget Jamestown, time and transportation permitting. Also, if you get the chance, visit some of the plantations.

As usual, these discussions remind me of the Ken-L-Ration ad: "My dog's better than your dog."

I'm sure that Ansel Adams is turning over in his grave. He took days or weeks of research and observation to capture his photos and they are all still pieces of artwork and treasured by collectors. It's not the equipment, but the photographer. All the rest is just enhancements to the process of making art.

And Adams was ahead of his time. A walking, talking Adobe Photoshop. Hours spent in the darkroom as well as in the field.

Do you really want to be tied up taking pictures at yoir sons wedding? You are going to miss much of what is going on.Hire a Pro and enjoy the wedding.

Second to this.
First, it's your son's wedding. Enjoy it. When you're not actively engaged in the festivities, have your camera ready for the casual or informal shots the pros wouldn't think to shoot - special friends and family antics. Step in, but out of the way, when the formals are being taken. I did that and the results were a wonderful supplement to the pro shots.

Did you preview? That will dump your picture and you'll have to reset.

Filters are not for lens protection. Get a hood. The sigma will come with one.

Have never known a hood to protect from dust and grit. Not say Barcelona has these in abundance, but a UV or just plain glass should protect the lens w/o too much exposure loss. Enjoy your trip and good shooting.
