Here's an idea for a homemade pouch that will keep you from losing that pesky lens cap.

When not in use, I keep my lens cap in a small steel safe with wheels which, in turn, is tethered to my camera bag. This is my second identical set up. the first went down when the canoe capsized.

If so, do you use the kind that goes around the lens, or the kind that's attached to a strap lug on your body? ...

If you don't use either kind ... what do you DO with your cap, when you're shooting?

Trolling are we? If so it's working. I do know where I would like to shove your lens cap.

What is a good way to learn to fully use all the features of a "real" camera? I bought a used Canon D60 and a Tamron 18-270 mm lens. I'm OK with the automatic features (turning the top left knob CCW (counter clock wise) from "fully automatic, but clockwise features are a mystery.

I'm not good at learning from the manual, or other books. I have trouble following Utubes/video tutorials. I have learned other things when I have a knowledgeable person with me to ask questions.I am considering visiting a camera club, and looking for an introductory course at a local college or Leisure Learning course. I live in the north suburbs of Houston.

Thanks, David B

He asks a question and then says "I'm not good at learning"??? Why would anyone offer this guy any advice?

Excellent! wonderful composition. When I photograph moving water, I try to not overdo the silky nature and portray, more closely, what the human eye perceives. Just sayin.

Thes 9.5x7.25 inch inlays were probably made from wood veneers that came from destroyed furniture. They were made with hand saws by a gifted workman. They were probably sold to U.S. military members to allow the artist to buy subsistence items for his family. How many hours would each one have taken to create?

We actually get too many days like this. We are always short of rain and we welcome the occasional cloudy day. Great for photography though!

Clutter? That looks neat compared to what I'd call clutter.

Dang, I must be more of a perfectionist than I realized. Being an aeronautical engineer who specialized in aircraft and spacecraft simulation for Link, NASA, and American Airlines hasn't really brought out much tolerance for disorder, has it. Now I understand my wife a bit better.

She did say "culturally interesting" and did not say "comedic" or "gross"!

Hell, there are more photo ops at Wal-Mart than in the Canyon Lands of Utah.

My wife's "clip out" recipe filing system. She is able to find one that she is is looking for in 30 seconds or less. Amazing! Have any clutter at your home? This shot taken with old Japanese glass(50mm Takumar SMC) and Sony A57 body.

Plain and simple photography is turning out to be a very expensive interest.
When I do not have my camera with me I feel lost. I need to keep shooting away.
I shoot close ups of people but I have found that most people in Florid do not have
culturally interesting faces of different ethnicity.

I am trying to emulate National Geographic photography without having to travel far.

Any suggestions for person on a fixed income living in Tampa Bay, Florida?

Have you ever given thought about being a greeter at Wal-Mart?

She should approach any stranger bearing a DSLR and ask that question. She will receive an answer accompanied with a hearty guffaw.
