Inlay art from postwar Germany

Thes 9.5x7.25 inch inlays were probably made from wood veneers that came from destroyed furniture. They were made with hand saws by a gifted workman. They were probably sold to U.S. military members to allow the artist to buy subsistence items for his family. How many hours would each one have taken to create?

I can only imagine how much time and talent went into each of these. Such beautiful, intricate workmanship. What a lovely post, Ron!!

Beautiful art and beautiful photo. My daughter thought English in Hungary shortly after the war that broke up Yugoslavia. She spent some time in Sarajevo Bosnia with her fiance and brought home several beautiful brass etchings made of spent artillery shells. The resilience of men in a time of great hardship.

I can only imagine the time and talent it took to make these. What a way to have to make a living.
Well done.
