I have tried several suggested programs and have decided nothing beats Adobe RAW
Can some suggest a stand alone RAW editing program? It is such a pain to load a massive program like Photoshop ( Anything ) just to edit RAW files.
It is really too bad Adobe RAW is not a free standing program.
Thanks
Thanks for the comments. I am going to keep the 28-105 lens and experiment a little more.
I am using the Nikon D200
I have a Nikon 28-105 3.5~4.5D lens. The lens is fine in bright daylight. I have trouble using the lens on an overcast day and keeping the images from being dark, even fully open @ 3.5. Would the 50mm 1.8D fixed prime be a good choice? I have been offered to trade the lens for a 50mm 1.8.D.
Thanks for any comments ...........
Nikon D200 body in almost like new condition in original box with all accessories and 7800+ shots. I say ALMOST like new condition because the grips are coming off. The seller wants $380 for the body and it will cost me $45 to have the grips replaced by my local Nikon dealer so my question is, the camera body worth a $425 investment? Camera was bought 3/2009.
You mean be the first to get a fleecing by big corpora ...........

I hate when the secret pricing is so secret that you have to put it in your "cart" before you find out what they want to charge you. grrrrrr
I have had sites refuse to tell me the shipping charges unless I complete the order. When this happens I simply leave the sight. Sale lost for them ...........
I know what UPS would charge and some companies milk it.
I was searching for a good price on a toslink cable for my stereo.
Most wanted around $20. Found it for $9.99 but when I went to place the order the shipping was $18. The other sites were only around $6. It is too bad these website companies attempt to screw their customers.

Many times they are counting on you not wanting to invest in the repackaging and return shipping cost.
HOHIMER you are absolutely correct and this is exactly why these companies pull this BS! Peoples laziness and wiliness to accept it.
I can see Adobe hemorrhaging customers over this stunt .......
In today's economy, I do not see customers accepting this a subscription or outright buying the product. As for me, I use Photoshop Elements. If my only choice is a subscription then it will be BYE BYE Adobe. Too many other nice programs.

Sometimes the specifications change as you click too !!!
Watch for the " expect delivery in XXX months after placing order" or even " an equal value substitute may be sent ..... "
Actually an equal value substitution is NOT legal unless they inform you this is what is being done and give you the opportunity to cancel the order. Sending something other than what you placed the order for, regardless of value, without your knowledge or consent and expecting you to pay for it is consumer fraud. They get away with this stuff because people simply accept it. If I ordered WIDGET A and was shipped WIDGET B then was told it is the same price and similar features after waiting 2 weeks and expecting WIDGET A I would NOT be happy and the item would be immediately returned.
I have used several brand names and have always returned to Sandisk. This is because Sandisk actually lives up to its advertisement. Others never have, at least for me. Sandisk is worth every penny it costs.
They accept this look because it is easier than learning how to take good photos. IMHO
Here are JPG straight from my D200 camera. I believe I have finally got the settings right or at least better than they were. These are BASIC JPG and I will play with the RAW files and see what the can be made into.
