Is it worth it?

Nikon D200 body in almost like new condition in original box with all accessories and 7800+ shots. I say ALMOST like new condition because the grips are coming off. The seller wants $380 for the body and it will cost me $45 to have the grips replaced by my local Nikon dealer so my question is, the camera body worth a $425 investment? Camera was bought 3/2009.

I think $425.00 is a little steep for a 8 year old mid-range dslr. As JR1 mentioned, you can get it cheaper on-line and you wouldn't have to glue the grip on the camera. BTW, how many actuations does it have?

That is a little high with the camera already needing repairs. You can find a better deal.

I just sold my D200 yesterday for $400 cash, had 13,449 clicks on it and came with the box and all original accessories. Also 2 CF cards and 3 batteries. I had 5 calls within the first hour of putting it on Craigslist. Looks like there is still lots of demand for them. Same sensor as the D80, but same body and controls as the D300.

If you want to PM me, I am selling one in ex condition !8K Shutter releases, with box, all accessories that came with it, and a couple of 2 G cards and was figuring it to sell for about $350. I'll post it in the classifieds here, over the weekend.

Personally - grips coming off would suggest to me hard wear or not well looked after.

You can get brand new dSLRs that may be last year's model for $550 to $600 with a kit lens if you look around carefully. I'd look for a brand new Canon T2i or T3i kit or a Sony Alpha 55 kit personally.
