Precisely- I started with a Pentax spotmatic, then went to a nikon f
I think your assumption about older people shooting more nikons is 100% on the money!
I was at the US open on tuesday and I would concur that there were quite a few gigantic canons in operation . Lots of giant white lenses!
This past August, when I was vacationing in San Diego, Ca., I was curious regarding nikon shooters vs. canon shooters. I noticed that there were more nikon shooters(dslr cameras) by a ratio that I calculated to be 4:1. I found that quite remarkable after doing a similar survey in my hometown one busy afternoon in manhattan, NY, where I calculated a ratio of canon to nikon, 4:2! I thought the ratios from San Diego and New york would be very similar. I dunno. Any thoughts on this?

Hello, Hartman. My avatar is one of my photos taken at the Grand Tetons. Will post more photos when I can get it together.
I think that would be the best solution-selling the body and lens separately. An entry level camera such as the d3100 was never sold new without the lens. Someone out there might be looking for a good back-up body to go along with whatever they already have?
My user name is Elsiss and I am a new member to this wonderful forum. Like many of the members here, I started my love of photography when I was 12 years old with my father's Kodak Brownie. When I was old enough to get a job, I saved up for a Pentax Spotmatic 2 that I got grey market from Hong Kong. Loved it, progressed to a Nikon F and used those film cameras for the last time in 2000. Slowly got my interest back for a DSLR after using a point and shoot until 2008, when I bought and loved a Nikon D40. Upgraded to a Nikon D7000 and have been enjoying it ever since. Lenses I have used are: 18-55, 35mm, 18-200 and 100 Macro. I am a retired industrial arts teacher and I thank you for listening to my long-winded introduction. P.S., I enjoy nature , landscape, and taking candid shots of my grandchildren. My friends call me Larry!
