We're going to Sedona in mid-Jan before going on to a meeting in Phoenix. Wonderful scenic areas and good hiking trails. How much snow do they normally get that time of year? Thanks! Happy New Year to all.

I have used this lens up to 1:1 ratios for many years at work with different Canon bodies, always worked well, good clarity and sharpness with up to f/32. Metering and focusing seemed to work fine.

Something around 17-80ish(85, 90, 100) would seem like a great range for these type of shots. Some wide and moderate tele abilities. Usable with flash when needed. Of course with good wide apertures and extreme sharpness too! Why is it so elusive? Or is it?

I have heard that in the newer Nikon firmware updates they have been working to limit the functionality of non-Nikon lenses with their bodies ie Sigma and others. Wondering if this should be a concern with purchasing off-label.

I can see the 50mm Sigma as a viable choice. I think 35mm doesn't give me the wide angle capability of the others. Does Sigma make an equivalent prime around 17 or 20 or so or zoom that would be of same high quality? My sensor crop is 1.5x. Great discussion!

Asking advice on experiences and merits comparing Nikon's 17-55 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8, and 24-120 f4. For D7100 body, I want this to be my sharpest "people" lens for parties, portraits, grandkids, and the like, not a traveling lens. I know the DX sensor will increase the ranges of all of them but not a real concern for me. Thanks for inputs!

Using non-cpu lens settings, will this lens and others in that family autofocus? Or will we need to manually focus? ie when Using D7100 and similar body. Thanks -now more to scout for at camera shows!

Great photos! These medical mission type trips do wonders for the local people but really do more for those who are the volunteers. Many opportunities still are available for medical, dental, nutrition, really all the sciences and arts. You are serving mankind and also serving God.

So, just received new 7100 with 18-200 and 10-24 Nikon lenses from B&H. They were nice enough to include UV and Circular Polarizer filters made by " Luminesque", made with Schott glass and to transmit "98.2%" of light. Any reports on quality of these vs. those available from Hoya, Tiffen, or B+W? Thanks for advice.

Noticed that Cameta is currently out of stock on refurbed D7100. Any info on when some more may be coming in?Also, any ideas if Nikon has plans to upgrade 7100 to a new model number with more/different features? I would guess one such feature would be an articulated viewfinder as in 5300? Thanks!

Thanks to all for the great info and references. Always felt unsure or clumsy about cutting the film in such a specific way. But I'm not using the film for anything else so I'll try it.

I did notice the rewind knob was not rotating but I did not want to re-open the body to check it "just in case". Don't think this body could do double exposures, but for sure the "A or R" liver was set to "A" for advance. Maybe send to a qualified Leica repair person? Like who?
