I have a Nikon D7000 and have heard that a good "reasonably" priced macro lens is the Tamron 90mm. Has anyone ever had experience with this lens, and if so, how did you like it?

Yes, Found it very sharp. Google Mike Moats, one of the top Macro shooters out these days. shoots strictly Tamron and is frequently published

I have one & use it on my D7000 & D7100. It's a great lens--very sharp. I bought it for macro work. I lost interest in macro, but still use the lens as a standard prime for general outdoor work. It's a great portrait lens, too.

Don't hesitate to consider it. I use mine on occasion and it has always performed as expected with very good results. I'm on the road, otherwise would post up a sample. If you are in the market for a macro, take a look at it.

Been using one for a couple of years now. Good easy use macro, and not a bad 90mm either. No problems with the results.

The manual-focus version of this lens is famous. It is in the Adaptall 2 series so can be mounted to most any SLR. By itself it can focus to 1:2; Tamron made an extension tube that brings it to 1:1. Those tubes are scarce but any extension tubes will work just as well.

I have two of these lenses; will sell one with Nikon mount adapter for $180 including prioruty shipping to CONUS

Excellent quality lens used with my Nikon D7000. The only thing that I don't like about it, is the push/pull auto/manual focus feature.

I am going to save up and get one of these lens for my D7000. Now I know there is a "manual" focus and an "auto" focus. Excuse me for being a bit naive on this subject...but is it true that I can use a manual focus on my D7000 and it will have the ability to auto focus, or am I wrong? I have no problem spending more on an auto focus Tamron 90mm if I have to, but if I don't and can get away with the older style, I will certainly do that.

I had one of these back in the day that I used on a Pentax KX (same as K1000 but with mirror lockup), with and without extension tubes. Thought it was a great lens.

If the lens is only manual focus, you cannot AF with it. Get the AF version that allows AF and MF.
