You provide specious arguments and statements regarding guns.

No one wants to take your guns away. But, remember the cowboy song: Don't take your guns to town boy, don't take your guns to town!

Take the Black camera strap with NIKON in bright yellow letters off your cameras. Keep a close hold onto them in the cities. Sometimes I use a longer strap cross chest. Then it cannot be ripped off your shoulder.

30 days ??? PLEASE take more than three camera memory cards ??? You will be taking a ton of pictures. With three, if one goes whacky or gets lost you've lost at least 33 % of your shots. SD cards are cheap and take up NO room at all. Take a bunch !!!

Thanks for your service. I am a Vietnam Vet. My wife is Vietnamese and has been there twice recently. Photography is no problem. Just be careful as you would in any place carrying expensive equipment.
I am looking forward to going back with my wife soon. I was unable to make the other trips.

I used my 10/24 wide angle zoom almost exclusively in the Grand Canyon.

I like the new rule about no archived photo's. So that makes it a challenge and encourages creativity.

I am a newbie who purchased a Nikon D3200. It came bundled with a Nikon 18-55 VR and 55-300 VR. I would like to purchase a 18-125 or 24-150 image stabilized lens to give me more flexibility. I would like some recommendations on compatible lens brands, does anyone shoot other brands that they really get good results with? I know Nikon is the first choice but just entertaining the thought of adding a different brand if I can get favorable results and save some money.
Thank you!

The only non Nikon Lens I have is the Tamron 18-270. I am happy with it, it does have a well known creep problem. I use the lens lock and release it when in use. I would have been very interested in the new AF-S DX NIKKOR 18–300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. However it was not available last year.
Something completely different I have and use a lot the Nikon 10-24 wide angle zoom. It is a great piece of glass and useful for the pictures I like to take.
I am not a fan of Kit Lenses. Maybe I am misinformed but I believe they are built to a lower standard.
Lens choice for me is a tough balance of budget, what I want to do, and how much gear am I willing to carry.
Fortunately I have no professional needs to meet and I only have to please myself.

I presently have a Lumix, I would like a new camera and can"t chose between canon vs nikon. Can someone give me some help? I know preference is a factor, and that both are similar. Just looking for some great shots

Both are good, I have Nikon. My mistake was buying my first one from a big box store (Costco). Buy the body from a serious camera store and carefully select the lenses you want. The big box store DSLR's come with kit lenses that are not the best. I was able to sell my D80 and the kit lens. I bought a D7000 body. By then I had already ready bought the good lenses I wanted. I love the D7000 and I have friends that love their Canon's. The two most important photographer's equipment are their eyes and their feet.

First there was Mattie now there is Pepperosa. So similar in action, verbiage and posture that most feel it is one and the same Troll. This aberration feeds on the ire and discomfort it is able to inflict on others. It (I can only guess gender since it has not declared itself) is a purported Obama hater. Although I will most likely (at this point in time) not vote to re elect, I do not hate the man. Nor do I give a damn where he was born. I would take an effective and strong leader from wherever he came. I believe the birther provision to be bad law.

The coward of UHH however gets his jollies off disrupting our forum. "It" contributes absolutely nothing. Not even healthy dissention. I say that because I know people on both sides of the issues discussed here, revile "it". No one is hard up enough for an ally to embrace "it". Yet members argue with "it" as though "it" had a rational functioning thought process.

"It" is too unsocialized to understand that the way to win friends and infuluence people is to reason with them. Rather "it" chooses to insult, denigrate, profane and dismiss as incompetent, anyone who does not agree with "it" while incessantly ranting the same message declaring how stupid people are who will not bother to view a video in the link "it" has been ranting about and trying to shove down peoples throat.

A link to a video about a birther investigation by sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County AZ. A person I have been intimately aware of since 1992. A blustering, publicy hounding blow hard who has cost our county over 50 million dollars in insurance award claims for wrongfuls deaths of prisoners in his custody. A violator of civil rights. (Read Bull Conner type). To appreciate the inhumane transgressions of Mr. Arpaio, one must realize that nearly 90% of his prisoners are so, not for heinous crimes but misdemeanor violations. DWI's, bad checks, petty theft, drugs, etc. Not violent threats to the public at large. He is an egomaniacal 84 year old relatively insignificant individual who through a crafty public relations department is able to garner press while neglecting the enforcement of real criminal complaints such as the ignoring of over 400 (yes 400) complaints of sexual or child abuse matters, an issue of current criticism and investigation by higher authority.

Where am I going with this? Here: I believe that in order to preserve sanity and objectivity in our Chit Chat forum we must reject that which calls itself "Pepperosa" or "Mattie". A cowardly aberration which declares not it origin, its domicile, its background, its education, its occupation or profession, its location or anything at all. An aberration which is vile, profane, insulting, perverse. There are other adjectives but why? "It" is what "it" is and "it" is undesirable. The only possible legitimate excuse for "It's" behavior is Tourette's Syndrome and that only manifests itself in speech, not writing.

I am against sanctioning anyones right to free speech but "it" makes a mockery out of the first amendment. "It is violent, visceral, vituperative and disruptive of our efforts to conduct meaningful dialog. Lets sign in below with a straight up or down vote as to whether or not we care to tolerate "it". If you are a thumbs up you will be casting a vote to reject "it" and purge "it" from our midst and believe the best remedy is to ignore "it" by not responding in any way to any of "its" posts. If you feed the monster "it" will thrive. Let's kill this poison. It contributes not to free speech or thought. "It is the pariah of hate and bigotry. Lets purge "it" from our midst. "It" has overstepped all bounds of decency.

Remember: Thumbs up is to purge "it".
First there was Mattie now there is Pepperosa. So ... (show quote)

Thumbs Up - Dump MattiePepperosa

Congratulations!

Today I have been married for 13 1/2 years .... any surprises I should know about coming up in the next 1 1/2 years?

I does no good to change horses in the middle of the stream. People change, learn to work it out.
Best advice, when talking to each other always make it face to face. Do not shout from another room. One last thing, never wash the sheets when your wife is out of town.

Some one said: "The only FACT that we all know and have come to love is that the only person at the management level in Washington D.C. without any business experience what-so-ever is Obama. He has never held a job that was designed to produce a real product or profit. I would be happy to entertain any proof to the contrary that you liberal/socialists can produce."

Having recently retired from about 35 years in cooperate America I would not be impressed by anyone claiming that their business leadership would qualify them to run a government. Most of the companies I worked for no longer exist. Most were poorly managed and run into the ground. The leaders sent jobs overseas and laid people off usually at Christmas time. I have a BSME and a MBA. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
