A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.. From 1929 to 1953, about
20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.

political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated
------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan
Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new
law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own
Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million
dollars. The first year results are now in:
List of 7 items:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed
robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12
months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety
has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in
successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience
and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians
disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of
this history lesson. With guns, we are 'citizens.' Without them, we are
'subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew
most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to
all of your friends.

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense.
The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important
than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!

SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.

SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY
CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!

IT'S A NO BRAINER!

DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS
IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.

I'm a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment!

If you are too,
please forward.

Just think how powerful our government is getting!

They think these other countries just didn't do it right.

Learn from history!

So why don't we adopt the Switzerland practice. Here in the USA any numbnuts can buy a gun and have no clue how to use it safely. At least there the gun comes with training, responsibility and I'm sure screening as I can't imagine they would issue guns to the insane, the crazy and the criminals.
I also don't think that that anyone in the U.S. government entertains the deluded notion that they can disarm the American public but if you told the NRA that the government would issue weapons the same way Switzerland does, I'm betting they'd fight you tooth and nail and come up with some reason that this is a socialist plot.
In order to have a meaningful discussion, we must eliminate all extremists both on the right and the left and unfortunately that includes the NRA.

BTW - Regarding Australia, it's been 13 years not 12 months since they instituted some gun control and homicides by firearm and homicides in general are actually down according to Factcheck.com. As to all your other allegations, I've no clue how accurate they are but I suspect due to your agenda that they are also suspect.

When you figure out how to determine who is insane, crazy and the criminals notify me and the authorities. As I have said before if someone is intent on doing harm to others he/she will find a way with our without guns.

All the examples given are governments or dictators ordering their own peoples deaths and owning guns would not have saved them,as for the japanese not invading because some of you had guns get real, and dont tell that crap to the American troops who fought against them as i believe they will tell you how afraid of a few home guns the japanese were.

While I'm pro guns, I can't understand why do the people advocating for less gun control conveniently omit the word "conscription" when talking about guns and Switzerland?

Oh wait, I know why. It sounds cooler when one talks about how the Swiss government simply gives guns and offers training to anyone who asks for it. They don't give you the choice. They require all males to serve in the "militia". And after the training, you go home and take your gun with you to store at home in case of an invasion by a foreign state.

And the rounds issued by the government aren't to be used for any other purpose. They are inspected. (I think they changed the rules, so not sure about the procedure now.) But that ammunition is/was to be kept in a sealed container. Not actually loaded in a rifle.

While I think their system is brilliant (for a small country at least), I don't like the idea of anyone being forced by the government to do anything.

Oh, and they also don't issue carry permits on "shall issue" basis. So if you ever want to carry a gun with you, you would need to prove to the government that it's absolutely required -- and your safety as a private citizen is not a good enough reason.

You need to either be carrying a lot of cash or other valuables as part of your occupation, or you need to be a famous figure with stalkers harassing/threatening you. Otherwise, no permit. It's not much different from the NYC gun laws (practices), which are total crap.

If I had my way every male turning 18 and graduating from high school would automatically serve 2 years military service. It might not teach them what the want to do but it sure would help them decide what they don't want to do.

Huey Driver, that's how it is in many countries out there. In theory, it's a good way to teach patriotism and make sure your population has adequate training in case of a war.

But in reality poor kids end up serving while the rich kids get exemptions through various legal loopholes.

So those who didn't serve look down on those who did (instead of it being the other way around). And those who did serve, despise the service (instead of being proud of it).

One problem I see with your argument is that you seem to be equating 'gun control' with 'taking away your guns'.

Only a very minute percentage of people actually advocate that idea and they are considered to fringe extremists by almost everyone, on both sides of issue.

People who say, "We have to take away all their guns!" are extremists who don't understand the issues at all.

People who say, "They're coming to take away our guns!" are extremists who don't understand the issues at all.

I dont see anything in the list for Britain, or see the figures for the number of Americans killed in your country by guns.
Britain has very tight gun law's, and the police never used to carry guns, it is just in the last few years that they have formed specail armed units, because Britain is becoming more and more Americanised.

i dont agree with your comment Alf.......in recent years yes, our cops have had to be armed ever more but also worthy of note is the fact that britain opened her borders to all and sundry and god knows what dregs of foreign society snuck in with legitimate workers.

Who are you talking about and why does that matter? A Republican may be of the same pursuasion. What if he's an Independent?

These are generally voting preferences, not descriptive of static mind sets.

You seem to feel that labeling someone totally settles the argument in your favor.

this President has done more for the VA and active soldiers than any other since the end of the Korean War.

As a former Navy man I am surprised you are so ill informed.

I set my alarm clock for 6:18 AM and the sun came up. My clock has the ability to make the sun come up!

You provide specious arguments and statements regarding guns.

No one wants to take your guns away. But, remember the cowboy song: Don't take your guns to town boy, don't take your guns to town!
