Not only that, but the news today on Google's news feed pointed out that many of the photos are from several years ago and aren't even from the Amazon.
If that isn't enough, NASA says that the Amazon actually only provides 6 percent of the world's oxygen, not 20 like the environmentalists have claimed. And finally, most of the burning is to provide grassland for cattle, and grassland although it is not as good of a carbon sink as forest provides nearly as much oxygen.

In other words, it is not the catastrophe that U.S. is making it out to be. It's the same thing that has been going on for 15 plus years. Yes, deforestation is a problem, but the stories are largely fraudulent, which a simple search of the NASA data will show.
