Good show! I usually shoot some pics for gatherings of friends and family and try to give everyone a copy of them if they want. When I throw in a few HDRs, most people stop at them and display a few oohs and ahhs, whether they are simply enhanced for detail or adjusted to a crazy level. (When I do the crazy stuff I include a regular shot for comparison) I think everyone likes HDR, just at different levels. Keep up the good work and continue to have fun YOUR way!

Nice job! I've tried the psuedo route with a single picture, because of subject movement, and they just don't have the "pop" that bracketed shots produce. Like you, I also like all aspects of HDR, however it is used. Keep up the good work. They look great!

Yes Welcome, and yes you will learn a LOT of techniques and get great ideas from this site. I also live in Oregon and describ it to friends as a place where all you have to do is turn your head and another great picturesque scene develops right before your eyes. Keep looking, keep shooting and above all else keep having FUN!

Thank you for the info. It works. Now I have something else to try. This should be fun!

I recently met a fellow from Wa. state that makes a very good living doing both photo and video work and does it all with small point and shoot equipment. He doesn't even own an slr. With that in mind I can imagine you are 100% correct.

This one is new to me and I am curious. Do you have to do anything "special" to get the effect?

The Serif PhotoPlus series of software works great. You don't HAVE to align anything generally, but it gives you the option after it has done its behind the scene work at stitching, for fine tuning IF needed. (Serif software is reasonably priced in my opinion) Hugin is a freeware product that has all kinds of manual alignment techniques, BUT I found that my computer just isn't quite good enough to crunch all that is required from the program and had problems with the image AFTER I had spent a fair amount of time doing the manual alignment techniques.

Made from 7 shots, all handheld, in Serif PhotoPlus

Just about anywhere you go on the coast is going to yield great opportunities. There are lots of areas that will allow shots from upper elevations as well as at tidal level. Don't forget the Rose Garden and the Japanese Garden just off Hwy26 on your way to the coast from PDX. I hope you have a great time which shouldn't be a problem this time of year.

Put "Listerene" in a spray bottle and spray (mist), areas around you, the screens on the windows and doors and around the windows and doors. It seems to repel mosquitos quite well. You can also place a dryer fabric softner sheet in your hat or pocket. It smells nice and also works fairly well to repel flying insects. Just remember there are chemicals in everything and use a little common sense around EVERYTHING your using it near. Don't let any mist or residue get on your gear and remember to wipe your hands before you touch anything.

It's funny how something with this much beauty can still have that "grumpy" look. I think you caught the "character" in this one that shows both. Nice job.

I'm seeing a chance for some close ups, some great macros, HDR,.....I'd say go for it. Great find by the way.

You could also go to "image/mode" and change the setting to 8 bit and save it as a jpeg that I haven't had any problems with. I've noticed the same problem with picturenaut tiffs.
