I would like to become involved in showing some of my world to these guys. What do I need to do to become involved in their worldly travels.

Hi Edna, I'm going to assume your lenses are not the L series type and your 75-300 is f4.0-5.6. The main thing to know is that Canon's teleconverters do not work on these lenses. Third party converters will more than likely degrade images if they are not good quality. And most importantly you need to know the effect they have on f stops, good light will be important in using converters.

These are very interesting. But it looks like a little red eye reduction is in order for this guy. LOL

Here are a few examples I got outside of Tucson proper.... I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

photogirl, these are in my eyes very awesome photos. I most like the old truck photo 6 and night view photo 7. This is not to say any less of the others.

I notice your spelling "Vivatar" is this an error or is this the way it is spelled on the filter? The correct spelling is "Vivitar". One of those tricks used to fool people into buying low quality grey market items.

I could not get the f/stop below 5.6 for some reason

MaryP what was your lenses focal length at. If you were fully zoomed in at 55mm then 5.6 is as big as this lens can go. If you set your focal length to 18mm you will see you can now go to 3.5.

I have a Vivitar 500mm mirror lens and after learning some photo tips here I have a question. When I first got this lense I went out to try it's capabilities. To say the least I was disappointed. But now I have made a big move forward in going from almost always using full auto to using Av and Tv priority. My question is this. My photos using this lense were not very sharp and contrast was seriously lacking. I used my camera on full auto. Now I wonder since this lens is fixed f8 should I set my aperature to f8 and let the camera set the shutter speed? Would this help improve the photos? The camera I used is a EOS 630, yes I like film.

I use a 18-2000 nikon zoom with my d7000 for almost everything.

18-2000 that's one hell of a lens. Must have been extremely pricey. Sounds big and heavy too! A typo for sure.

A shame when it has to come to that.We cant attack those who break into our homes.

Going by what's been seen and heard on the news it seems to have come to this. If a burglar enters your home, help him out. If you arrive home and find him there, help him get the goods he wants. And by all means ensure he has a safe departure. If he gets hurt on your property he may sue you. And the real kicker is he will likely win the case. If you injure him you are now going down as the bad guy.

I'd sure like to know an answer to this as well. I have an EF 75-300 USM that makes a lot of squeaking noise during focus. Oil yes it does sound scary. Also where would you put it in?

I have a question. Do you have a hood on your lens when shooting? Those blotches on the water tower may have been avoided by simply using a correctly fitted hood. Using a hood also is said to improve image contrast, I think this may have made some of the other shots better.

I just looked at the manual for your camera the Canon PowerShot S5 IS. It looks like this camera has no interchangable lens capability. It has a built in flash which is usually too weak to illuminate this type of scene. Your options may be to obtain a compatible flash for the hot shoe and try that. Dust in the air may still be a problem. Other that that play with AV TV or M modes to set shutter and aperture values. With low lighting you will need a tripod to get better shots. However moving vehicles in low light will be hard to get without blurring.
