Hi my name is Edna I just purchased a canon rebel T3 it came with a 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses but I still feel I need more. I photograph ducks and birds and can't seem to get close enough to get a good picture my budget is very small .I have been looking at the telephoto converter but not sure if thats the way to go. one converter I looked at was 2x and the other was 4.5x if some one can help me it would be much apperciated.

Hi Edna, I'm going to assume your lenses are not the L series type and your 75-300 is f4.0-5.6. The main thing to know is that Canon's teleconverters do not work on these lenses. Third party converters will more than likely degrade images if they are not good quality. And most importantly you need to know the effect they have on f stops, good light will be important in using converters.

The best advice I can give you is to stay away from converters. You will not be happy with results you get.
For what you want to do, the best thing you could do would be to save your money and purchase the Canon 100-400 IS lens. You will get breath taking photo's.

I have a canon 60d with a 18-200 lense I get really good close ups by cropping, kinda amazes me when you crop close. I have a 50-500 also and it's so dang heavy has to be on a tripod and I don't think I get any better shots with it.
