I am reviewing older sunset photos...this one from the fall, shot at 300+ ft. altitude with the drone. The very small camera sensor in the drone is certainly limited in regard to resolution and dynamic range, but the perspective is nice. If I had an extra $10K + I would fly a drone that could lift my a7iii to such altitudes!

Stunning! <3

Especially number four.

Thank you, Longshadow! :-) Wasn't that a crazy sky with that cloud pattern? We don't get those very often. Made me think of one a couple of years ago. I'll grab a sample of that.

Thank you! Nothing earth shattering like some of the amazing photos people post here, but I thought some might enjoy the beginnings of spring as much as I do. :-)

Really nice. Wish I could take such good shots at that low angle. Really like the first shot.

Thank you! If the screen didn't articulate, I'd have a terrible time trying to get those! (I still have to get on my haunches ... ground is a bit wet for sitting!)

It's been pretty soggy and cold but still we have things coming up and giving us the promise of better days to come. Here are some photos from this past couple of weeks. The first was just taken on the iPhone ... the rest on the camera. We had a late winter snow/ice storm that brought down all manner of limbs and even trees ... unusual for us here. I'd ventured out in the wee hours to whack snow off the fruit trees but we still lost some big branches. That first shot with the phone was of the wood my husband cut up for the kids to use in their fireplace... all from storm casualties. There are several species of trees represented and I thought the textures and colors were pretty in the trailer.

The rest are late winter flowers... witch hazel, snowdrops, hellebores, crocus and narcissus. I'm excited for a new growing season! <3

But this past month has had some stunning skies, so I decided to share them. All of these pictures were taken from our deck. Tucked underneath those skies are the Olympic Mountains (the two peaks in the center are "The Brothers.") Most of these have two shots of the same sunset ... two are stand-alones.

This looked like a beautiful watercolor painting ... so unusual for us.

This is not our world. It's another world on the same planet as us. Thanks WA.

Fascinating! Such a world we live in but often don't truly "see." <3

I have a show coming up in April at the Spark Photo Festival in Peterborough Ontario Canada and due to some massive house repairs I can't afford to properly frame my prints. Being a digital specialist I figured to do it all digitally and use a peel and stick substrate. I have 2 choices and ask your opinion on which one strikes you as more presentable. Of course the double mat would save me a pile of black ink considering that the entire show is in B/W but the triple just seems to pop. I have 34 prints to do and many are panoramas so that black ink just may become an issue. But certainly not as much as framing would be. Thanks for your help.

I'm no expert ... but the triple does look better to me. That being said... if you don't have the first one right next to one with the triple approach... it looks very nice. :-D

There were a lot of variations of the name Quist in Sweden. Lynnquist, Oquist, Lundquist, etc. When they came over from Sweden a lot of them just took the name Quist. I was told that when Napoleon destroyed the economies of Sweden and Norway a great exodus took place from there and America was one of the destinations.
My father's parents came from Sweden and settled in North Dakota, a drought or something sent them packing to Atwater MN. My Mother's parents came from Norway and they stetted in Litchfield MN, some 13 miles from Atwater. The Norwegians built a small Lutheran church in-between the two towns and that's where my parents met.

This is interesting to me because one of my childhood near neighbors were named "Lindquist."
