Tony Northrup does a good job providing hints on cleaning your gear.

Just wondering if there is particular recommendation for using / avoiding any particular sensor cleaning fluid to apply to the tip of the sensor swab?

Fuji XT2 (16mm wide sensor), about one year old and many lens changes in all sorts of locations - i now have some noticeable dust particles showing up in the sky in the same place over a number of shots and the in camera removal does not remove them.

From Tony's earlier video about Iceland I get the impression that removing dust from sensors in MILC cameras will become a regular thing - any solid dos or don'ts from those that clean sensors out there?

When we used to kayak a bit, favourite time for ducks was just after dawn - they would have the heads tucked under their wings then and the trick was to paddle past without waking them. Sort of like teenagers - much better to just let them sleep.

A cracker image with great detail - well done!

Both are terrific shots - had a pembroke corgi as our first dog - she really had a born to rule attitude!

But, remember the only "real" red tractor was a Massy Harris..

On t'other side of the pond, where I live, the real tractor back in the day was a Massy Ferguson, sometimes unkindly referred to as a Fussy Merguson, especially when Not Functioning As Required.

I suspect the brands are related - for some reason I thought of them as British, but that could be my imperfect childhood memory.

Thanks for the great images, and the trip down memory lane.

Very very nice image and really captures the wild feel of the place.

Just interested in the amazing sharpness of your overall focus - did you use some sharpening in post?

Well done Mark in converting a gear failure into a success - its cheering when you have one of those wins.

I also use PD and love the concept of a shared plate that locates to a whole lot of needed places - tripod head, my belt, back pack strap and hand grip. Bit expensive but good quality.

Such a clever capture - a poodle is all about its curls, except this one has a very expressive mouth and tongue - it's that happy grin that makes it such a great photo (IMHO!)

[quote= Or, simply "erase" the distractions in post..[/quote]

Sorry if the answer to this is obvious, but is there a simple way to mask a background in post, and then make the background appear out of focus using the mask or layer?

Have spent ages not very successfully trying to get things in sharp focus when they were not that way when shot (only possible to a very limited extent I think).

Is there a simple way to do the opposite? (I use Lr 6.14 and Luminar 3.1)

This is an old historical shot tower in the Melbourne (Australia) Central Train Station.

In an earlier professional life I was involved in the development of that project and it was a fundamental heritage / Authority requirement that the shot tower not just be retained, but placed indoors in perpetuity (at a height way more than the surrounding rather ordinary department store and shopping centre).

The Japanese architect on the project conceived the cone structure in your excellent photo to meet those requirements and the good citizens of Melbourne (I'm from Sydney) likened it to Madonna's then rather pointy bra in one of her video's of the day.

Good to see the structure is holding up, and well done you to see the photographic opportunity - maybe I should take the camera around other projects I was involved in and see how they are holding up!

Agree entirely - one other factor with a big aperture, but overall small prime (on a compact AP-C type body) is they together looks much less threatening to your subjects when doing street, informal portrait or group photography - relaxed subjects = improved images.
