Landing in Brisbane, I rented a car and drove down to Maclean to see our friend, Earl, known as Dook on UHH. I was exhausted from the 14 hour flight, and having to drive 3 1/2 hours south to Maclean made me more exhausted. So a stop at a rest stop was in order to stretch my legs and use the facilities. It doesn't look like what I'm used to here in the US, but it was very picturesque. It doesn't look like it, but the facilities inside are modern.
After Earl picked me up at the motel, he took me to the highest hill at Maclean, Lions Park. The view east to the Harwood Bridge and beyond are breathtaking. The new bridge that is being built alongside of the old still isn't quite finished, but will help with the flow of traffic along the very busy coastal highway. I had to cross the old bridge to reach Maclean. The Magpie was my first introduction to Aussie birdlife. In my motel room, I could hear the "laugh" of a Kookaburra outside my window in the evenings and mornings which made me smile, but was quite elusive when I tried to take a picture.

Sis, excellent set and DDLs are great. Is this a second trip or photos from the first?
