I have for sale an UNOPENED box of the popular Zeiss Terra ED 10x42 binoculars. I had an original pair that suffered a physical catastrophe, so I purchased a replacement. On a whim, I sent the damaged set to Zeiss to see if they could repair it, and to my surprise and delight, they replaced the damaged set with a brand new pair! That is amazing customer support! However, now I have an extra set of binoculars, and I would like this brand new set to have a new home.

Since I want to leave the box with the factory seals in place, I am not providing pictures, but you can see the pics and specs at B&H, etc. The ones I am selling are black.

My sale price includes shipping to the continental US. If you would like to pay with PayPal, the fee will be added to the selling price. I will also take Venmo, Zelle, even a check, none of which have additional fees.

Please PM me with interest or questions. Thanks for looking.

I tried KEH and the quote was ridiculous

I am pretty sure all other resellers (MPB, UPP, B&H, etc.) would be in the same ballpark, because they all need to resell at a profit. Selling your gear privately will almost always generate higher dollars, but of course with more hassle.

I have sold many items here on UHH, and also on eBay. To see how much items are going for on eBay, be sure to filter on <SOLD ITEMS> so you don’t get sidetracked by what people are asking. Selling here is preferable for reasons explained above, but realistically you get more exposure for your item with eBay. Be prepared that you will probably not realize as much as you believe your beloved equipment is “worth.” And, except in rare cases, it does not get more valuable by sitting around.

As far as resellers go, I like UsedPhotoPro. As I was helping a neighbor dispose of her late husband’s gear, UPP send back a check higher than their original estimate after examining the items. But, as noted, they were selective in what they chose to accept, so I sold or gave away the rest.

I am Looking for a Microsoft Excel camera gear spreadsheet template?

If you do it yourself, you control the attributes that you track, and change anytime you want.

I use excel. I started my list with just model and serial number, then at some point I added the model number of the lens hood (for the lenses), and then later the weight of each item. Now, if we are going to be taxed on things we sell, I am adding the purchase details so I can prove that I am not making any money when an item gets sold. Very flexible.

I recently heard the phrase, « (Preparation + Skill) x Patience = Luck » . You were «  lucky » the second day thanks to persistence. These are beautiful birds, and I am sure you have several memorable shots. Congratulations.

P.S., « distant trees » implies the need for longer lenses. I believe B&H is open today…:-).

It is a challenge to covey the immensity of such an enterprise. To me, it the last few shots of the tiny little manmade structures that made the scale hit home. Wow. Thanks for sharing.

P.S., the John Prine song Paradise is now running through my head.

Some cameras have 2 card slots with the same type of card in each.
I download a card to my computer, verify it is downloaded and do the following:
take the second card out move it from slot 2 to slot 1.
Take the former slot 1 card and put into slot 2.
Then reformat both cards.
This way each slot is being used equally.
Works for me and who knows if necessary but that is what I wanted to do.
Do others do something different?
I know that those with 2 different types of cards cannot do this so they do not need to comment.

The Z9 is similar in that it has two identical CFExpress slots.

My flow differs in a few ways, largely a result of the 20fps capability of the camera, which I use extensively for birding:

1) I use the second slot for overflow

2) I have no need or desire to keep all my shots. After a session, I use Photo Mechanic to select the images that I want to process, maybe 5% at most. These go onto two external hard drives, cloud backup, etc.

3) If the primary card has space on it, it goes back into the first slot, and is used until the shots overflow onto the second card. After selecting the shots I want, this card gets reformatted. The second card moves up to become the primary, and the reformatted card becomes the overflow.

Whatever works for you.

Were you using silent mode? I learned from personal experience that silent mode and stage lighting can produce horizontal bars in the images. I had just gotten a Z7II and was seeing one of my favoite artists. Did not get a single useable image. I learned afterward (can’t recall the source) that this can happen. Don’t know the technical reason.

For sale are my wonderful D500 and a 16-80 DX lens. I love the D500, but I have realized that I rarely use it since I acquired a Z9 last December. It is time to pass the camera on to someone looking for a professional camera at a good price.

I have priced these items at the lower end of what they are selling for on eBay. The posted prices are net to me. Shipping and any fees charged by PayPal, etc., will be extra. I will also take Venmo, Zelle or even a check. All products have been stored in pet-free, and smoke-free environments. I will not ship internationally.

Nikon D500: This is a “refurbished by Nikon” piece of equipment. I purchased it new in 2019, and it was my primary birding camera, even after I purchased a Z6 and Z7II. The shutter count is well over 200,00. However, the shutter mechanism was replaced by Nikon last year, and the camera performs to expectations. It comes with the original box and all paperwork, an EN-EL15C battery, battery charger, a remote trigger, and a non-swivel Hejnar arca-swiss compatible plate with a QD socket. $550.

Nikon AF-S DX 16-80mm f2.8-4E ED VR: This is, I believe, the last and most advanced DX lens that Nikon produced for DX DSLR bodies. It is fast, lightweight, and received excellent reviews. This copy is a USA model, documented by the warranty card that comes with it. The lens comes with both caps and an HB-35 lens hood. $360. A Breakthrough Technology X-X UZV filter is a $20 optional ad-on.

I have bought and sold many items on this forum and have a 100% positive rating (on eBay as well).

Please PM me with interest and questions. Please do not try to communicate in the public forum.

Thanks for looking.

First, Sony and Canon make wonderful cameras, but I'm not going to switch systems and I really do love my Nikons so please refrain from posting about other systems. I have 3 Nikon DSLR bodies. I have no objection to mirrorless except that because everyone wants them, DSLRs are at fire sale prices. I have a D600, D750 and D850. I only recently bought the D850 and as far as I can tell it's a better camera than everything that came before the Z9. And what an amazing workhorse my D750 has been! But it finally started to succumb to all the abuse from dozens of weddings, travel, and on and on. The hotshoe stopped functioning and that's vital to my professional work so sent it off to be repaired asking for an estimate to repair/replace the hotshoe and generally go over the camera and see what else needs to be done. The shop came back with a cost of repairs that pretty much need to be done, at over $500. OK. That's a lot for a 10 year old camera with 120,000 clicks on the shutter. So thinking of trading it in as is, along with the D600. But what to buy? I'm not interested in going to the Z line because I have to either do everything with an adapter or buy new Z lenses. If price were no obstacle then a Z8 would be the way to go. But price is an obstacle. $4 grand for the body only, plus the adapter or Z lenses - just can't justify the expense. So the question is should I buy a used D750 or a used D850? I prefer to shoot the D850 at 25 mp resolution so forget the resolution diff. The D750 is a lot less money and weighs a little less. But the D850 has a much better AF system and handles much higher ISO levels. Low light performance is important for weddings and my hobby is shooting at night - the milky way, light painting, etc. So handling noise is important but so is low light focus ability. I've always had a lot of trouble focusing the D750 in low light because once you lose any contrast, it can't do it. I only just got my D850 so not enough experience to know. For you D850 owners, how good is it at getting focus at night? Anyone have both a D750 and D850 that can weigh in?

From purely a usage perspective, it would be simpler to have two bodies with the same control layout, so you don’t have to do the mental and physical adjustments when you go from one to the other. Since you have a D850, one of the best DSLRs ever made, I’d look toward a second one.
