I feel confident that a phone camera will some day give results near equal to a DSLR with a bag full of lenses. Look how far they have come in a short period of time, and also consider the money the phone manufactures have to invest in the technology due to their vast sales. With that being said will I surrender my Nikon as a primary tool to record "a moment in time" not likely, but when I look around at any venue we are the minority, and are only a small percentage compared to the Smart Phone. As the phone evolves even some of us may turn to the new technology, one thing I have learned in my life is never say never.

Lucky you, as a volunteer fire and rescue person that has happened a time or two in my 50+ year career. I can smell them cooking in my smoker, and everyone else I know smokers,, Hopefully the driver will recover completely.

A decent camera can be a huge investment. I have been using Nikon for over 40 years, so I am heavily invested in the Nikon lens system. I would like to buy the latest and greatest but the cost stands in my way. I have 3 D200s, one I keep in my vehicle and two used by my 7 & 11 yr old grand kids, and 3 D 300s I usually carry two with different lens, wife carries one. All of these were bought used except for my first D300 which I paid more for than the car I was driving. Some of the cameras were bought off Ebay, one D300 had 125 shutter clicks. I have had great success with KEH, their guarantee is hard to beat. The last camera I purchased is a like new D7000 off Ebay with 58 clicks for 330.00 box papers extra battery and 2 32 GB chips. I considered a new D7100 or D7200, but I am never going to enlarge to great lengths so the 16 MP is just fine. It would be difficult for me to be happier with any of my cameras. The shutter is suppose to last 150K activation's , the D300 I bought new now has 24K after 11 yrs., two that I purchased off KEH have 30K & 54K , never a problem from any of them. Between my wife, myself & grand-kids they all get used. I try to buy with the best condition and lowest shutter count I can find.. Good luck with your search

one of my favorite places. I live just down the road from it and have many pics of the mill over the years in most seasons. The park service has done a lot of repairs. Moved to this area in 1975. I have two grand kids 7 & 11 that I got into photography. We usually go up to the restaurant then take PICS They both have small Fuji point and shoot cameras that they always carry and also have Nikon D200s. With the Nikon's they use my selection of lens and tend to use my 18-200 most of all. Little heavy for the 7 yr old but they like the results.

Great video, all should take an active part in passing the word. Many people do not know the risk. As a life long fire and rescue person I have seen the effects of knowledge and lack of knowledge. Accidents happen, not just with snow and ice. If you come upon an accident the first thing you need to do, after reporting it, is check for downed wires and also for GROUND ELECTRICAL BOXES that might have been run over and are electrifying the car, live another day to take more PICS...

Looking Good! The Clydes are always a welcome visitor to the local area. I use to raise and show them, truly magnificent gentle Giants. Budweiser does a great job showing them, I just wonder now that the Busch family sold the brewery how much longer the brand will continue to have the horses represent them.

Thank you all for the information and especially the links, being conservative I will err on the side of caution and use an interface such as a Safe Sync or a remote trigger. You guys are the best!

New to forum, but not to photography. Been into pics since grade school, which was back in the 50s. Used a Speed Graphic to take PICS for my HS newspaper in the early 60's. Between school and family, house etc. never had a lot of extra cash to invest in cameras and equipment, until they got a little older and I was able to buy used. Took a Petri 35MM to Vietnam then when I came home upgraded to a used Nikon F1 them went to a Coolpix 5700 when they came out, was into digital but found out when the Grand-kids came along that when I clicked the shutter they were already across the yard. The first quality camera I bought used was a D200 that I still have, the first new one was a Nikon D300. Paid more for that than the vehicle I was driving. I still shoot the D200, the D300 and a D7000. In all those years I always wanted a Sunpac 611 flash or a similar Sunpac. Had the opportunity to use a friends well over 35 yrs ago on the F1, and really liked the results but couldn't come up with the extra money to buy one new. Now they are all over the place at low prices. I fully understand that they are old technology and newer and better choices are out there. I have read that the trigger voltage on these old flashes are high and could damage the electronics of the newer digital, I was wondering if there was an isolator that would prevent the trigger voltage from damaging a newer camera. Any help would be appreciated, the Sunpack is like a bucket list item..

KEH can be hit or miss, I have been fortunate to hit on a few occasions. They are good people to deal with.
