Wasn't much of a colorful photograph, so I converted it to black & white and added a touch of blue toning just for giggles. Post work was done primarily with Luminar flex plug-in and Nik Silver Efex. Ken. Ooops, I misspelled Ilwaco in the photo title.

You have a divided center of interest nearly in the center. Hope you have another image with more sky
and less base.

To all those that gave feedback on my photos of barns and abandoned homesteads in the Palouse area, I'd like to pass on a big "Thank you"! Whether your comments were of praise, suggestions, etc. I considered them all, and in some cases, made a modification based on your thoughts. Most of what I post I end up getting them printed and indeed, some turned out quite nice while others are ok at best. Most all that are sooc can use a touch up here and there. Best wishes to all. Ken

Very nice photo thanks for sharing saying hello from Pittsburgh.

Hello Pittsburgh, from the west side of the Cascades and the NW corner of the US. Hopefully all is well in your neck of the woods and you're dealing with the Corona crap as well as can be expected.

Best wishes!

Once again, attached is another barn I came across while spending a week exploring the Palouse for old barns and abandoned homesteads. And, as with other photos, my attempt was to indicate the vastness of the area and isolation of the structure. The entire photo was enhanced with Luminar Flex plugin. With its help, I was able to bring out a great deal of tones in the clouds, bring down the brightness in the green grass, but add a touch of brightness to the center of the grass (winter wheat) as if a shaft of sunlight was shining through. I also dodged the barn a bit to help it stand out. As always, your comments are welcome. Good, bad, or otherwise. Ken

Very nice image but concern for a print. Your foreground image is so sharp, the clouds seem to have a lot of noise.

You weren't suppose to see that

Yes, you're right. I actually didn't notice till after I posted it. Best wishes.

Great composition, however, it seems to me that the barn roof is a bit too highlighted as the light seems to be coming from the opposite side.

Hmmm... If you follow the sun rays, I think it hits the left side of the roof. I'll look it over more carefully, though. Thanks for studying my efforts. Ken

I think cropping the foreground would take away from the remoteness and isolation of the structure, which is what hoped to convey. Thanks for your thoughts though.

Nice creative job on this old barn. Your pp treatments is best delivered in b/w. Question: What if you cropped just a bit off the foreground?

Ken, planning a possible trip to the Palouse area in about 2 weeks. Is that a little late for the spring crops and wildflower green-up photos? Thanks

Frankly, I'm not sure as I live on the west side of the Cascades. Perhaps if you sent an email to the Pullman Chamber of Commerce you'd get a better qualified answer.

Best wishes on your adventure!

This is a composite black & white photo. Although the barn and field were photographed near Palouse, Washington, the sky was imported from the collection in Luminar 4. As such, I felt the sun rays needed to shine on the upper part of the field, so I did some minor lightening in that area. Plus, I dodged the barn bit to help it stand out from the grassy area. A touch of selenium toning was added along with a mild vignette. Your opinions are most welcome. I'm going to wait a few days before I decide to have it printed at Costco. Oh, I think it looks much better by clicking the download button. Ken

Ken Great shot. If it was mine I would crop some of the foreground to give the barn and clouds more relevance.

Good point. My intent was to show some of the vastness of the area and the remoteness of the structure. Ken

Ok, I know some are not a fan of pretty color photos being converted to black & white, but to me, this one cried out for the conversion. This old grain barn is located just north of Colfax/Palouse, Washington. Software used was Photoshop Elements for minor global adjustments such as brightness, contrast, etc. and then Nik Silver Efex for the conversion to b&w, local adjustments to the clouds and foreground, a soft vignette, and mild selenium tone. Then, I used the Luminar Flex plug in to dodge the two faces of the structure. Thanks for taking a peek. Comments are always welcome. Good, bad, or otherwise. Ken

You are probably already aware that the contrails, power lines, unwanted poles, etc. can be removed effortlessly and completely in PS. On the other hand, that could make the image a bit antiseptic and maybe not what you were going after... in any event, love the barn and the composition...

Yes, I know they can be remove in a few different ways, but frankly, they didn't bother me all that much when I submitted the photo. Perhaps I'll work on it some more in a few days. Thanks you.
