Spot on Curmudgeon. There is a choice involved. Follow the rules or don't enter your photograph. Simple enough for me.

Thank you AndyH. I was listening and you have clearly made me understand what is involved. I probably would only get to stage 2 before this camera would become a test subject to see how many pieces it would shatter into once coming in contact with a 200 grain 44-40 rifle slug at very close range. I'll live with a bit of dust and particulates. :~)

I don't think so.

Thank you for your comments Bridges, GoofyNewfie, turp77, User ID, AndyH. Being a "Nikon snob" I haven't had any experience with a mamiya camera or the screw type M42 lens. What would be the best, safest, and easiest way to clean the viewfinder prism to remove the dust and other particles? I may try to sell the package at a later date, but for the near future I may just get a few rolls of film & try it out. Many thanks again.

I recently picked up this camera in its original leather cover with the following lens:

mamiya/sekor 50mm 1:2

mamiya/sekor 35mm 1:2.8 w/ Hard leather case

Vivitar Telephoto 135mm 1:2.8 w/ Hard leather case

All three lens appear to be in excellent condition with no signs of internal fungus or dust.

Externally the camera body itself appears to be in like-new condition with dust & tiny particles visible in the viewfinder. Judging by their appearance the light seals probably need to be replaced, however, internally everything looks clean and intact. The shutter releases properly and the film advance operates properly. I have not replaced the battery to check out the exposure meter at this point. After a bit of research I understand that the max shutter speed for the 500 DTL is 1/500 of a second, and that the 1000 DTL model has a shutter speed of 1000 of a second.

Now for my questions.

1) The price paid for the camera & lens is negligible so what would be a "ballpark" charge to have the camera body fully serviced & light seals replaced by a reputable camera repair shop and is this camera worth the effort?

2) I have used Raleigh Camera Service in Raleigh, NC in the past with excellent results and fair pricing. I can't locate them through Internet searches and have lost their contact information, so I assume that they are no longer in business. With that said, what camera repair shops could anyone recommend?

3) Where can I find reasonably priced 35mm film both color & black & white?

All comments welcomed. Many thanks.

Love is in the air on a bit more intimate basis, and the aftermath. Taken at a little rain-filled depression at night last spring using my old stand by Nikon S8100. Thanks to COVID-19 I'm just getting around to going through a year's worth of images. It's amazing how time seems to fly by when life gets hectic. If I'm lucky I might finish by next spring.

Thanks. They are just so quick & active. Between them & the Carpenter Bees that are here now things are really buzzing. :~)

Can anyone ID these bees? They look like Honey Bees but do not act like them and are about 2/3 rds. the size of a Honey Bee. They are VERY hyper acting and do not seem aggressive and fly all around me when I am close to them. This is the third year they have shown up. There is roughly 15 to 25 in the group and they move on in a couple weeks. For whatever reason they like this rusty expanded metal table top on my deck. When I first saw them I thought "African Killer Bees". Probably not though.

Sorry for the lousy pictures. I was using an old Nikon S8100 that I keep next to my recliner and did not have it set on spot focus.

Maybe he was expressing his feelings about that brand of camera. Probably a Nikon snob. :~)

Thanks for all of the positive comments. These were one of my mothers favorite flowers. I think of her often when I see these in bloom.

I was checking out the trail down to the far end of my property the day before yesterday and came across a patch of Lady Slippers in bloom. I knew they were there and had seen them many times in years past, however, I had forgotten to check on them this year until I saw them during my walk. There are probably 15 to 20 in the patch with a number of young ones just pushing through the leaves and pine needles. They are very fragile plants and rarely, if ever, survive transplanting. They are one of Gods hidden treasures. These are not the best images since I only had my outdated Samsung Galaxy 6 phone with me and not my Nikon D7200. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I have been asked to take pictures of a wedding rehearsal dinner at a local eatery and would like some suggestions on settings. I'll be using a Nikon D7200 with a choice of two kit lens, AF-S 1:4-5:6G, 55-200mm and/or, AF-S 18-70mm 1:3-4:5G. I don't plan to use my SB-800 flash unit and really don't want to use the pop up flash either unless absolutely necessary. My initial thoughts are:

1) Auto ISO
2) Aperture priority

or possibly

1) ISO 1000 to 1600
2) f/5.6 to f/11

It will be at night and the room will be low light and possibly with candles. I'm not sure if it will be florescent or tungsten lighting. I try to stay away from this type of photography due to some miserable results in the past. But this is for my son & his family so I really don't have a choice. Any & all suggestions are welcomed. "Pops" bacon is kind of on the line here.

I use a fly fisherman's vest for many things, including photography firld trips, since I don't fly fish. Many more pockets and a large rear pouch. Just my 2ยข.
