This discussion has little to do with Photography but that's why it is in the general chit-chat, non-photography section. What has happened to the site is that someone divided it up into numerous sections, and this is one of the sections. Just FYI, I don't like the new system and have lost interest in most of it.

I still think all the bluster about electric vehicles is a bunch of BS. I'm waiting to see what happens when everyone comes home from work at 5pm and plugs in their battery chargers. Will the electric grid go dim? Also, what will happen when the batteries start to die. I have heard replacement costs around 10K$ and where will all the dead batteries go? There are attempts at recycling but will they be able to handle the quantities? Also we had an electric car catch fire in the area and it took the fire dept 6 hours to put it out. Reminds of the old days of the true magnesium rims - they were fun to extinguish. I think it's all attempts at politicians (like California's governor) trying to make it look like they are doing something. We'll see. I'll stick to my 94 Ram/12V Cummins.

Thanks for the link. I guess I didn't realize that the video was actually a play on words. I thought it was a Blue Moon advertisement. My mistake.

One of my favorite videos is Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion (The Prayer). Definitely two great voices.

I have tried four times to view the video but all I get is a bunch of ads. You-tube is getting ridiculous. Greed has turned a good system bad. No more for me!

Some of you may be familiar with this facility. In Livermore, Ca (50 or so miles east of Oakland), on a hill there is a beautiful old white building that is a regional VA medical clinic. The ride to it takes you past multiple wineries (Wente among others) and a perpetual green belt. One day while there I just happened to have my camera and took some pictures of some of the residents. Just spur of the moment shots, no post processing, etc. Generally there are 15-20 Turkeys (the feathered kind) but this day I only saw a couple. The things we must endure!. As we said in Thailand, war is hell when the air conditioner freezes up!!

As Lucas said, there are companies that provide a SPAM filtering service. Some are free, some are better than others. I would start by contacting your internet provider and see if they provide any Spam filtering. There was a law passed that requires them to do some filtering. Since mine started, my junk email went way down.

We have a two-story house with a fireplace insert (Quadrafire 5100-I) that we love (we have lots of free firewood). The insert allows us to only rarely use the forced air heat. We had a chimney liner installed several years ago and it improved the performance of the insert (as well as improving the safety factor). The only problem with the setup is that when it's really cold outside (relatively speaking of course since the house is in California) we need to use a heat gun to heat the liner enough to start a good draft.

Someone said that Red was great in the days when the comics didn't have to be dirty to be funny. I totally agree 1000%. However, I just don't see how being dirty is even funny at all!!. I won't go to any of the comedy clubs in the area, partly because of the language and partly because they require you to buy at least 2 drinks. I love beer and wine (can't do beer anymore for medical reasons) but I don't do hard liquor (tastes bad going down but tastes worse when it comes back up). I do have a problem with those that can't talk without swearing in public. Shows an inability to communicate!

I see some of us still remember the days when comics could get laughs without every other word being F--- this or F--- that. Red was my favorite and he always ended his show with a heartfelt "God Bless".

I know what you mean about fit and finish of Soviet block planes. Years ago I was able to get up close to a Mig-29 and it looked like poor manufacturing. However, it had a few things ours didn't have - it could "see" directly underneath and also used infrared targeting so no notification of "missile lock". Also it could momentarily "fly backwards" without flaming out, as a way to quickly slow down. And with all the controls being analog, not digital, it was very reliable.

I don't know many of the names on this list but for me, I would add Eric Clapton and David Gilmour to the list (just my preferences).

The comment about driving to Hawaii reminds me of an old joke: Man finds and releases proverbial Jenie. Jenie says he would grant one wish so man says he wants a bridge to Hawaii so he can drive there. Jenie remarks how much concrete, work, etc that would require and says make another wish so man says he wants to be able to understand women. Jenie asks if the bridge will be one lane or two!!!

There are obviously many knowledgeable folks here about airplane numbers so please answer a question for me. There was an F4 prop fighter (as the great photos here show) so how does that fit with the F4 Phantom Jet? I was offered a ride in a Phantom in Thailand but I hate the smell of Vomit (Vertigo/Motion Sickness).

As I recall, the "Hot" setup was the 375 horse 327 (and I think it came with tri-power) The photo here looks more like a 4bbl. For real extremists a dual quad gave you more gas pains though. I think my friend in HS had a single quad SS, canary yellow.
