The camera that started it all, a Minolta SRT-101 with a 50mm F1.8, soon after I saved up and traded it for a an F2 (stolen in Armsterdam along with a 105 F2.8 Micro, 200 F4, 50mm F1.4). I have been faithful to the brand since 1970 except for a passing Canon Rebel which I kept a few weeks.
I have not kept any of the older cameras, the new one would replace the one in use. But now that this posting brought back memories the camera that I have owned and most impressed me was a Hasselblad 500CM with the std. 80mm lens. Too bad I couldn’t afford the extra lenses and accessories...

As I am getting ready to retire I am taking up my old passions, now that time will be available. I’ve been a Mac user for quite a while and have updated my computer and camera equipment.
Last week I downloaded about 8000 pictures on a WD external drive, from all my devices and iCloud. No doubt there are a lot of duplicates that I wish to get rid of automatically when uploading them on a new storage and editing software to be installed on a iMac.
I am looking for something above iPhoto or Photos, but I don’t think I am ready for a top of the line software like Photoshop (to be honest my daughter is a Pro and if I were to need extensive editing I would tap her expertise).
Would a Elements meet my primary needs?
Your suggestions and opinions are as always appreciated.

Thank you Bob
Do you need 3 adapters just for the light meter or you have other equipment that requires the adapter?
At $39 a pop they are not cheap.
I will try the Wein cells and if they don’t perform then I will go with your suggestions

Thank you all , I appreciate the info sent and yes I am curious to find out how a hand held light meter from the 60’s performs vs the meter on my D500.

Found them in Amazon, these are special Wein cells, they make an exact replacement for the PX-13's (non-mercury)
Years back I looked these up with no luck and today did not bother to do a new search until today (when I found the meter statched away).
Thank you all, I will see if I can get juice into this old light meter next week when I receive the batteries.

Thanks, I will invest the few $ to try them and bring my meter to life but according to the extensive research I've done before sending my post, the original batteries where 2.7 volts (PX-14) or two PX13 (1.35V). These are mercury batteries, no longer made. The 3.0V might requiere the meter to be recalibrated (jollinger.com)
Will let you know how it turns out.
Thank you Claude

Looking through the boxes where I store my empty lens boxes, manuals, etc., I found my old Weston Ranger 9 meter (AA Zone 6 modified). At the time I bought this meter I was (still am) a great fan of Ansel Adams and all related to Zone 6 exposure.
Does anyone know where I can get batteries for this meter. The originals where if my memory doesn't fl me, PX-13 (2 batteries in a little cardboard cylinder) or a single PX-14.
Any leads will be appreciated.

Sunflowers have been one of my favorite photo subjects, always trying to recreate a Vincent van Gogh painting.
Tough to do in Miami though, we have no sunflowers. Loved the subject matter, color saturation. Wish it was not cut-off at the bottom.
Also can you tell me what you used to do the sketch.

Quite happy that I've joined in this blog, everyone's has a valid opinion. My thought on old vs. new is can't stop progress. A 66 GTO is a classic, but it got less than 10 MPG and was fast on a straight line. Today cars are faster, safer, run cleaner and are full of the little conveniences of the 21th century.
Same with mechanical cameras, they will last forever, but when we are talking about 100,000 of clicks, in a relative short time, it's because we are not shooting film, only professionals could afford to go through so much film.
I like what the new cameras have to offer, and still remember how cumbersome it was to put a new roll of Tri-X on a Nikon F.
Talking about obsolete, I just found my Weston Ranger 9, anybody knows where I can get a battery for it. I thought I've lost it when I moved 17 years ago, be nice to see it working again.

Any company today that wants to be around for a while cannot afford to make bad products. I, like most of the persons who have posted comments to your post, have owned Nikon's, bought them new or used, and never had one break down on me. I do miss the simplicity of the mechanical cameras and everything related to film, developing and printing; but today we shoot hundreds of pictures, edit them, delete them, and can do all that on a $15 memory card. And it's true that the GAS feeling comes around mofe often than in the past, just factor in the savings that a $15 memory card gives you and it's like you are putting a few $ away every week for that new toy that just caught your eye. I am good till the 80+ MP hit the market.
BTW it's Nikon 100th B-day, that is based on quality and a loyal customer base.
