You may want to try Darktable it is a free non-destructive image processing product that is capable of editing raw images!
Keep in mind, that on international flights there is weight limitation on carry on bags of 7 kg. On one of my trips on Emirates, while we were waiting at the gate to board the flight, an employee came with a hand scale and was weighing everyone's hand/carry-on bags. Luckily I had packed a shopping bag in my camera bag so I split the contents for the weighing into two bags each just around 7 kg.

Once photos are converted to DNG, in lightroom go to import photos and videos (in library module) and then you can import all of the dng photos. Hope this helps.
You could run the DNG converter directly on images stored on the card but write them on your computer or an external disk (where ever you store your lightroom images). This way you are not writing anything back on the memory card. Then you can import the images into lightroom. You can now plug back the card to your camera- no need to re-format and continue shooting.
JPEG is compressed image, on first pass it loads part of the information and on second it inserts the details. This is normal for JPEG images.
Rule of 500: Divide 500 by the focal length of the lens in mm, this the maximum exposure you can use to avoid getting movement of moon or other stars. So if you are using a 250mm lens then maximum exposure will be 2s. If using a 100mm lens then the exposure can be up to 5s. Hope this helps.

Latest version of LR Classic CC as I am running on Windows 7 64-bit. I just updated my LR but still LR indicates there is no preview available for these images.
Looking for some help with Sony raw file conversion. I am using Sony A7iii and capturing both raw and fine JPEG images. To post-process the raw images in Lightroom, I had to download Adobe's DNG converter as LR does not recognize Sony's raw format. In the past I was able to convert them, but all of my latest photos when I tried to use Adobe's DNG converter I get an error message indicating that it could not parse the file. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If you did, can you please suggest how to overcome this issue. Otherwise I may have to call Adobe. Thanks.
I agree, fire are a problem for photography. When I was there last year there was a fire in Glacier NP which caused poor visibility for the first three days of our trip. On fourth day it snowed and rained which cleared the sky for the last two days of our stay. We got beautiful shots on last two days.
