Anybody still using one of these? And if you are, how’s the reliability? I’m considering a used one, and yes I’m aware of the newer cameras, it’s a budget thang

I have and use one. I love it. IQ is great, What I really love about it is that its form factor is perfect for me. I have an XT2 which is a super camera but I have not bonded with it yet as I have with the T1. Also, the battery life on the T1 is much better than the T2. So if you can find a nice excellent to mint one just buy it. You will not regret it. You could get the 16-50 & 50-230 "Plastic Fantastic" lenses and have the perfect budget set up that will produce great results. To state the obvious you can buy vintage MF lenses to go with it for very good prices too. Good luck!

Friends... I'm an avid 75-year-old enthusiast, not interested in highly technical answers to this. I love shooting with my Nikon d7200, but got caught up in Fuji world. I have no trouble with my Nikon, but find Fuji a bit difficult to use. I know I know, stick with the one I love, but I do like the size of the Fuji stuff (xT3 & x100f). Your thoughts?

Hi Gary,

I shot Nikon all my adult life. About 4 years ago I bought and XE2 to try Fuji out as the weight of lugging around a D7K and a D300 was not enjoyable anymore.

I now have the XE2, XT1, XT2 and XH1. My preferred camera bodies are XH1, XT1 and XE2. I've never fully bonded with the XT2 but I'm still trying. I love the XH1 which I just bought. As for learning menus. I just refer to the web if I get stuck.

My D7K is long gone. I still have the D300 plus Sigman 10-20 & 18-250 because the D300 is almost worthless, though still a great camera (around 10K activations) as are the two Sigma Lenses.

If I were you I'd breakthrough on the Fujis. I find the menus mostly simple apart from some stupid stuff which I sort out in my instruction books, Fuji forums on FB or on the Web.

I'm 72 in April. I live in Costa Rica. My XE2/Industar 28mm is my everyday combo. Tiny, light and fun. The XT1 is my preferred casual travel camera because it's small and light and I love it and it reminds me of my Nikon FM. The XH1 is something else. Brilliant. Quietist shutter I've ever used.

Anyhow that's my 10 pence worth. I've made Fuji my way forward.

You'll decide what works best for you. Good luck and good shooting.

I find it works really well on my Fuji lenses and the IBIS in my XH1 is great. The IBIS also gives me 3 stops with vintage glass. Combining IBIS and IS I get about 5 stops - 1/2 is possible and 1/15 or 1/25 easy.

I need some advise from my UHH family. What is the value of a mint condition nikkor 180mm f/2.8 AI-AI-S, gold ring manual focus lens?

Great lens $200-$300 you can sell it but if I were you I'd keep it, go mirrorless and use it.....

Does anyone format your sd card after you've downloaded and backed up all file on hd's and to the cloud and start fresh? I know many will say they are inexpensive, $60-$70 for a 128gb card for some is not inexpensive considering how quickly you can fill it up. I got a second one for the holidays, one of my only ask for's.

Photography should come with a warning label "Caution, entering into this hobby / profession will cost you more then you can ever imagine. Proceed at your own risk and ruin."

Hi,

Copy to your computer. Make sure you have a backup. Then delete the images and use. You can format from time to time. Some people do it every time I don't. Hope this info helps.

I have bought 2 Nikon lenses from KEH - a 50/1.4 pre AI and a 105/2.5 pre Ai. Both exceeded expectations and were in mint condition. They were also very fairly priced. Two, "as new", 45-year-old lenses!!

I have found them to be an excellent company to do business with.

Hope this helps you.

Sometimes they are useful or even essential. I take lots of "Landscape" shots. Rarely, if ever, use my tripod. Worst ROI on any of my photo equipment.

This is so bad you cannot believe he would post it in his Christmas card .
First the choice of background ..Clearly a motel room ..door with crash bar and a trouser press .Very professional .
The son clearly crouched unnaturally with the "Rockwell smile" . The object is to look pleasant not to overdo the smile aspect .
Oh Ken ,you have fallen so low, did you not learn about the profile of people in the back row ? Oh yes being half hidden.
I am not a fan of old men touching young girls so the hand on the shoulder is a no no for me.
Daughter partially behind mum .good looks intimate , facial expressions good .the men rubbish.

I assume there was a bed in the room..how many times have we posed bridesmaids around a bride sitting on the bed? Or KISS .. mum on a chair and the family standing grouped around .
Stick to palm trees. Taco outlets etc Ken

Oh, what a nasty post. Please delete it. So what it's a cell phone selfie. And as for your comment about his hand on his daughter's shoulder you should be ashamed of yourself. What a mean spirited attack. So you don't like Ken Rockwell. So what. I don't know him. His reviews have been very helpful for me. He's not to everyone's taste but so what? IMO not a good post. Also not a good thing to do.

I've used Luminar for years but don't use the current offerings. I use Capture 1 20, Exposure X5 and ON1 2020. Capture 1 is my most used software. I have it specifically for my Fuji RAW files.

Hi there,

I bought my Fuji 18-135 from Mexico must be two years ago now. Great saving over US price. I live in Costa Rica. So you buy what you can from where you can! Generally buy used. As long as it works I'm happy.

ON1 2020 is terrific. I stopped using LR when LR6 would not load. Support was crap. I have ON12020. Exposure X5 & Capture 1 20. I do not use LR.

I have been using a Toshiba laptop, but trying to edit photos on it drives me a little nuts: small screen (and my eyes are getting older!), limited graphics capabilities, etc. I have no experience with Apple products, but Costco has this on sale, and the 5K screen is pretty amazing:

New Apple iMac 27" - Intel Core i5 3.0 GHz - 8GB Memory - 1TB Fusion Drive - 4GB Radeon Pro 570X Graphics At $1729, not cheap, so it better be worth it.

I primarily use Lightroom and have just started to learn Photoshop, both of which are beginning to run a little slow. Luminar 4 shows significant lag.

Has anyone had experience with this computer and how do you regard it's suitability for photo editing and DAM? Any other thoughts about it, good or bad? It seemed like the RAM and graphics card were a little limited for something this expensive, but as I said, I don't know Apple.

Thanks in advance.

Don't even think about it. A Mac will transform your experience. I've been using Macs since the Apple Lisa. I've used Wintel machines now and then but they don't do it for me. I'm still using a 2008 MacBook bought used for $300 running Windows on it. Says everything really. Go for it and have your mind blown!

Hi there,

If you check out the Facebook Group - Photography with Classic Lenses & the FB Group Vintage Lenses I'm pretty sure if you join, and ask, someone will be able to point you in the right direction the members are very helpful and there are numerous online guides of how to do it yourself.

I had a Konica Hexanon f1.8 40mm lens which got damaged in transit. I got it cleaned and repaired perfectly for $41.00 including return postage. I can highly recommend Greg Weber who did the work. I do not know if he works on Nikon lenses but he is worth checking out. I shoot with a number of Konica primes on my Fuji XH1.
