I am requesting your help concerning Appleā€™s discontinued Aperture Photo Editing SW. True it is available on older OS versions (HS & Mojave) but still works best on HS.
Since replacing my iMac, I have encountered numerous barriers to using Aperture efficiently...I would happily give up it's use for an alternative.
The features in Aperture that are important to me, being able to view up to 4 raw images, side by side, and zoom in and out on each checking for the sharpest. Additionally, you can rate 1-5 on the fly, & the rating remains with the file. IF YOU KNOW OF ANY OTHER APP THAT OFFERS THESE 2 FEATUREST PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. Please, only respond if you know of something, not you have heard it works, or it could work. Too many companies have said yes, but when requested to show me, tech support was unable to do so.

Thanks in advance for your help. Healthy and Happy Holidays to you all...

I have all of my insurance with USAA at this time. I want to insure all of my cameral equipment. Does anyone have esperience with USAA doing this and would you recommend them? What should I look for when getting this insurance?

I have had all my insurance with USAA for 35 years and every few years I get a rate comparison. No one beats USAA for identical coverage.
Why? No sales people, only one central Texas location, and no advertising (until recently). Service has been great.

$40,000 camera gear covered for any/all losses at REPLACEMENT value without any DEDUCTABLE (I think, not 100% sure) at $332/year premium as VALUABLE PERSONAL PROPERTY FLOATER.

Good luck,

Tried to go for a week but it is the first and largest N.P., soooo much to see.
First trip, plan a month if possible. End trip day before season ends or begin trip day season opens. Why? you will be joined only by other pros and much less traffic and gawking.
Spend at least a couple sun rises on the road thru Lamar Valley (only about 1-2 miles) where the wolves cross every day hunting for food. You will find the spot by the 6-7 vehicles parked on the roadside and the locals with
their spotting scopes. Furthermore, you might find the yellow vehicle (several yrs ago) with the radio receiver antenae (since many of the wolves are collared) and the wolves will be along shortly. Also, best area for buffalo.

With Catalina replacing Mojave and others leading to many other application complications, keep in mind there are some work-a-rounds.
On any current MacOS, by running current version of Vmware Parallels 15 ($50, I think) you can run your current versions of MacOS, and on the Parallels Virtual machine, run Windows XP, Windows 7, and ANY of the other earlier versions of MacOS, each without re booting...and you can move images across the different platforms. Newer camera raw files not supported? Use Adobe Raw File converter (batch convert, free) ressuslting in image files now supported by Aperture, Photo, Imovie. 4k video files not supported? After importing from card/camera, go to Apple Pro Res Converter (batch, free) and results are supported by Aperture, Imovie...so Aperture not YET going away...

I know of no other application that permits side by side viewing and zooming of up to 4 images seemlessly??
Thanks for anything I may have missed...

Thus far Apple has left me confused concerning the following:
Eventually I get the message that my external drive for t/m backups is full & will begin deleting earlier backups. Accordingly I assume that if I export any image files, albums, or libraries to a different drive, disk or whatever, unluckily have desktop/macbook crash, those removed items could very possibly no longer be on my T/M backup drive? So is the best solution not to permit your T/M backup drive to be overwritten...changing the b/u drive instead? Your thoughts/remedies appreciated...

I have the same hardware and am also running High Sierra using Aperture without problem with Raw Canon files and 4k video from 5DM4. I must convert Cr2 to Adobe .png and the 4k to Apple PRORES file but doesn't take long and almost loss-less. Considering upgrading to Mojave and you are the first person to mention 'Aperture is not compatible" with Mojave. All apple support people have said they are 'unaware of it not being compatible?? Where did you here this?
