No one is shoving their “gayness” down your throat unless you feel that you or others have the right to fire a person because he/she is gay, to discriminate against a person simply because he/she identifies as being gay, or if you advocate for firing experienced and loyal combat veterans because they identify as being gay (did your ‘straightness’ serve and see combat in defense of our country?).
You don’t state your race, but persons of color (to whom I guess the second point on your ‘tablet’ refers) only want to be free from discrimination. They would prefer not to be murdered for the crime of being present in their own residence, to have cops called when in the process of unlocking the front door to the home that they own, to be denied employment or advancement, to be chased down while jogging and murdered (“just another ‘N’ said the murderer), to not be asphyxiated by a policeman, and on and on.
As for politics, this country thrives on honest political discussion. It is not condemnation when members of one party criticize the other, so thin your skin.
I do not care where you were born, but if your ancestors held mine in s***ery after bringing them here in chains from their home country, then I will blame them. If you or your ancestors supported George Wallace as he proclaimed that segregation should prevail forever, if you or your ancestors support(ed) the law enforcement officers who cracked John Lewis’ skull as he walked non-violently across the Edmund Pettis Bridge, then I do blame you and your ancestors, and if your ancestors had a part in naming that bridge, I hold them accountable. Fear not, Pettis’ sorry life’s history will never be erased, but he should not be honored by having that bridge named after him. We will right that wrong.
. . . and if you and your apparent ilk never cared where I and my ancestors were born, why such an uproar over Obama’s birth certificate or, now, apparently, the birthplace of Kamala Harris’ parents.
I never cared that you worked hard and were promoted, but I will not accept that, being equally qualified, I was turned away from employment many times because I didn’t look like you. As a straight ‘A’ student in a predominantly white high school, I did not accept advice from my white counselor that I should not bother to attend college, as, I would likely not graduate, but, even if I did, no one would hire me, anyway. To how many other students of color did that evil man give the same advice? If you agree with his advice, then I say loudly that I and those other students of color did experience discrimination, whether you cared or not, whether you were promoted or not.
If your beliefs include the belief that ‘eminent domain’ gave your ancestors the right to run my ancestors off our land, to purchase land, move my ancestors to that alternate location, then push them away from that location as well, then I state that your belief in that instance is, indeed, wrong.
I and my ancestors all showed plenty of patience, and, as you claim for yours, our patience has, indeed, run out. Enjoy your dominance while you can. We will soon outnumber you in society and at the b****t box. Fear not, things will change.
