Poor quality autofocus while using my old D5500 for video is what pushed me to go mirrorless. You are going to want to manual focus. Also, if you don’t have a remote mic then be aware of the on camera microphone picking up the noise of your lens focusing in both manual and autofocus. The focus noise was terrible on my d5500. I would use my iPhone for video over my D5500 if I was asked to make this video and it’s not a close decision.

Interesting. I have only shot shot in monochrome with my A7II a few times, but I have been impressed with it when I did. And I have wondered if I could achieve the same results with it by just converting in post.

Also, make sure your IOS is up to date. Then check your Icloud storage capacity and iPhone storage available. Call Apple support if it continues. I had a similar issue with my Mac a couple of years ago that Apple helped resolve over the phone.

I upgrade every 2 years just for the camera upgrades. Currently using a 13 pro. I prefer the standard size over the max because I can do everything single handed with it. The max is too big to control single handed. If I am doing a lot of reading on it I use reading glasses.

I still use the first generation IPad Pro to do my photoshop type editing, but I use affinity photo with the Apple Pencil. I have not found any issues that require me to upgrade to a newer IPad. You mentioned quick editing on your IPad. What is it that your current IPad can’t do?

Batch processing might be slow on it. I haven’t tried. I use my M1 Mac and Lightroom to do any batch processing and also run Topaz plug ins. But I think single photo editing on your IPad Pro would run fine with most software.

I use ProCam for the app that allows me to use the IPhone in manual mode. I am not sure it is better than the app you are using as far as being user friendly. But I don’t have any issues seeing the on screen controls.

How much storage do you need? The IPod touch can have up to 256gb. That would be the smallest portable hard drive with a screen that I can think of. If you need more storage then you can get an IPad Pro with up to 1TB but that’s a big jump in price over an iPod touch. But much bigger screen.

As others have said, the EM10-mkII is a great camera. It is better than the EM10-mkiii in my opinion And maybe even the mkiv unless you want 4k video. I sold my mkiii and went back to the mkii. This is my small/budget travel camera to compliment my full frame Sony system.

I take a lot of photos at both of my sons’ basketball and baseball games. I am very reluctant to take photos of their teammates unless I know the parents very well. Their teammates or competitors may be in the photo when I am taking action shots but very rarely the subject. I am usually the oldest parent at a game and the 20 and 30 something parents armed with only cell phones are already suspicious of the old guy with the big camera and lens. There have been times when I get a good shot of a teammate and I think it would be nice to share it with the parents. But some parents can be hyper sensitive on this issue and I would just rather not take a chance on finding those parents. It is too bad that this is where we are in society.

Following because I haven’t decided on the best workflow for Lightroom classic with Topaz denoise AI as plug in. The file size created has become a concern of mine.

I have 5 older external drives that I have used with my new M1. They have all worked. Although sometimes it takes a few disconnect and reconnect attempts for them to show up. But one thing that I have noticed is that working with an external spinner drive instead of SSD really slows down the M1.

Also, I should note that I bought a Mac Mini instead of a MacBook so that I would get the older USB A port in addition to the USB C. I am connecting these older drives to the USB A port. There can be compatibility issues with USB C adapters on the M1 chip machines.
