When I got my first DSLR (Nikon D3300) I switched from the kit 18-55 and 55-200 to a Tamron 18-270 . . . It is an excellent lense, and I'm guessing the 18-300 is as well. Still have the 18-270 and it resides on my D5500. On my D500, I have a Tamron 18-400 that stays on the camera 95% of the time . . . Another excellent lense . . .

If you shoot mostly interiors, I recommend the Tokina 11-16 or 11-20. Also Tamron and Nikon have similar lenses . . .

I like SIRUI tripods and ball heads. . . I think they are excellent products and reasonably priced.

Walk around kits: D5500 w/Tamron 18-270 , 2lb 2.7oz . . . D500 w/Tamron 18-400 , 3lb 10.3Oz . . .

Although the D5500 is lighter, I prefer to carry the D500 because of it's faster focus, frame rate, low light capability, etc etc.

Thinking about putting my 11-16mm or 40mm on the D5500 and just using it for landscape and long exposure . . . Will the 24mp of the D5500 give me better IQ?? I really love the D500, but it seems most of it's advantages are lost when doing landscape or slow shutter speeds.

I know someone will say to get a D750 or D850 for best landscapes, but I already know that, and it's not in the cards for now . . . So please just advise which combo between the D5500 and D500 would give best quality. . . Thanks for your inputs . . .

I have no problem waiting 6mo to a year for them (D850) to become more readily available. Later production runs might have any errors or bugs fixed and updated software. While the D810 is very good, I just as soon wait and get a D850 . . .

I want one . . . I have a D500 and love it . . . I see the D850 as the FX version . . . But . . . I'll have to wait until the prize patrol stops by before I can afford it . . .

That’s what I take unless birding. Need to get a wide angle. How do you like the Tokina?

It's very sharp . . . I've only used it for interiors so far, this coming summer I plan to do some wide landscapes . . . If I were to do over, I'd probably go for the 11-20 instead for a little more range . . .

I found the ebay/pay pal and all of that stuff to be too much hassle . . . I just advertise and sell locally using Craigs list . . . Local only, in person, cash only . . .
Also might see if camera shop will give me trade-in credit on old gear towards new gear . . .
