Thanks BassmanBruce. I think Striped Hawk Moth actually looks more like it than the Banded Sphinx Moth.
Thanks for the quick turnaround on my question.
This flying insect looks kinda like a grasshopper in flight, but it doesn't when it is still. Wingspan is about 1.5" to 2" and length from head to tail is about the same.
Does anyone know what this is?
BTW, I am in eastern Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia.
Have you tried restarting the PC? That will resolve a vast majority of problems with all PCs, Mac or Windows.
SkyPortal is a great Android phone app. It's put out by Celestron, and it's based on their Sky Safari Windows app. I'm not sure if there is an Apple version of these two apps for iPhone and Mac.

I love to follow paths and would enjoy seeing your paths, too!
There's a nice wooded walking trail around a business park that I worked at a few years ago. I loved to go there on my lunch break to de-stress. It worked!
These are sooooo cool, Larry. Can you say a little more about how you do these?
Night shot of the Harbor Bridge is beautiful.
Kudos Dan

Nice one! I have the same camera and like it a lot.
Thanks. We had it in 2010 when we shot the bridge, but, unfortunately, it was lost shortly after that pic was taken. I now shoot mainly with a Canon Rebel T6 and also with a 12 megapixel Panasonic Lumix purchased in 2006.
We are fortunate to live near Bucks County in Southeastern PA where there are dozens of covered bridges. This shot was taken with a Canon Powershot.
The Cabin Run Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge located in Point Pleasant, Plumstead Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The bridge was built in 1871, and is 15 feet (4.6 m) wide and has a length of 82 feet (25 m).
Hi RayF,
Your closest (somewhat) dark sky would be in the Pine Barrens in south Jersey, or, if you wouldn't mind driving about 5-6 hours, Cherry Springs State Park near Coudersport, PA, in Potter County. The sky there is Bortle 2 (very little light pollution). Most of Jersey is about Bortle 8, which will not be suitable for Millky Way pics.
Take a look at
www.DarkSiteFinder.com and you will be able to find some other places within a few hours of NJ suitable for night sky photography.
Great pic.
Was this at the Neem Karoli Baba ashram in Taos?
The correct term is "intervalometer." Search for that on Amazon or your favorite photographic vendor and you will see many choices.
Great shot! It's now my desktop wallpaper. Thanks!
I shot this with a Canon Rebel T6 with 18-55mm kit lens at 55mm, f/6.3, 1 second, 6400 ISO.
My subject was Venus & The Pleiades, but if you look straight up almost to the top of the photo, you will see a fuzzy object. If you zoom in the object gets bigger and bigger. Looks like it might be a galaxy or something.
My Stellarium was misbehaving, which prevented me from IDing the object. Can anyone tell me what that is?
