Have you tried restarting the PC? That will resolve a vast majority of problems with all PCs, Mac or Windows.

What are your symptoms?
Try mounting them on another computer.
Best of luck to you.

How things work out for you I had the same problem a couple of years ago with WD drives lost a lot of images, never use WD drive again they are cheap non reliable drives, I only LaCie drives now are SanDisk SSD never had a problem with these drives, stay away from WD drives, hope you get you information off the drive ?

After years of testing drives I only use WD. If you own a Windows PC, I would do this. Go to grc.com read about SpinRite, download it and see if your drives are visible with it, then run option 2. If not satisfied for any reason they will refund your money. I have used the program on every new drive I purchase and then annually. It finds and corrects drive errors.

Whatever makes you happy, WD drives are so cheap and as the saying goes....you get what you pay for I would rather spend a little more to be safe.

The OP stated he is running a Mac. Also, blanket statements about WD drives are not accurate - depends entirely on the drive model. WD (who now owns HGST) produces some of the most reliable enterprise class spinning disks. On the other hand, often the drives used in prepackaged external disks are the cheapest available. BTW, I haven’t seen any current reliability specs on LaCie since they were acquired by Seagate, but in the past, they have built some of the buggiest external drives in existence.

Based on your description, it doesn't sound like a problem with the drives, but a configuration problem with your mac. The likelihood of 3 drives failing simultaneously is very remote. I had similar problems with my mac when I upgrades to the current operating system. The first thing I did, which had the most impact, was resetting the SMC and NVRAM. You might try this first.

To reset the SMC (System Management Controller):

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

To reset the NVRAM (non-volatile RAM):

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

Hope this helps

This has been my experience. Also, drives going into a RAID 5, 6, 10, 50, 60, etc. come in two basic varieties - regular or commodity (cheap, but short lifetimes, frequent raid rebuilds) or very high quality (expensive, long lifetimes, infrequent raid rebuilds). Both have their place and WD makes both and everything in between.

All drives can fail. There are many variables, maturity of technology being A big one. And manufacturer. Given the same technology, some manufacturers have a higher % of failure than others.

My personal experience with WD is they fail. I have also had problems with Lacie’s failing. Everyone here will report different experiences. Moving on...

OP said 3 drives won’t mount. It seems unlikely that 3 drives would fail at the same time. So there may be another cause for the failure to mount.

Good suggestions have been given to OP, Nalu, and some questions were asked. Nalu had Thus far, not responded. So until Nalu responds any more discussions here are a waste of time. But that won’t stop them from happening. ;)

It is less than wise in today's world to use anything short of Enterprise rated drives.
Unfortunately, preassembled external drives are notorious for using the cheapest drives available. So Buyer Beware.
I have seen WD Passports not mount before.
It was not the drive but the wall wart power cord that came with it.
Try using a different one that is known to be good.

Thanks all of you folks for the input. Much appreciated. It was a bad cable, even though the cable worked with my Seagate backup drive. So why would it work with seagate drive and not the WD drives? Guess I will never know, but the cable is now in the trash, never to be used again.

Thanks again.
