I just wrestled with this choice myself. I opted for the D750 since I don’t do video. If I was into video I would have opted for the Z6.

PS CC is a complete solution. On1 is about 85% of a solution. Nothing wrong with learning more about PS. I use both On1 and PS/LR, and find them complementary. But if I had to use one solution, I would go with PS/LR.

Can you please explain further why you consider On1 an 85% solution and PS/LR a complete solution?

Thank you.

I have a Canon 550d (T2i) and various lenses. I am considering swapping systems to a mirrorless set up and wondered what people's thought were in terms of the timing of such a switch and which system to go with. I have been reading about the Fuji xt3 and it intrigues me but I am an amateur photographer and it is more expensive than my Canon system. I am considering switching to reduce weight and because mirrorless looks like the future of hobbyist photography.

In my opinion the main advantage of mirrorless is EVF vs OVF. With EVF, what you see is what you get.

A gaming computer is overkill for a photographer. You’re overpaying for a video card and liquid cooling system. A video card with 4gb of ddr5 (around $100-$150) should be sufficient. High quality dual monitors are very useful. However the 32gb of ram with the ability to expand is good. I would also recommend a CD burner which also burns m disks. Also buy a hard drive “toaster”which allows you to plug in two hard drives and copy to both at once. One of the hard drives I would keep in a safety deposit box in case of disaster. BTW, I’ve been in the IT field for over 20 years.

If you need to use your camera all day every day in all type of weather conditions, get the D5. Otherwise get the D850.

The best photo editing software is the one that you’ve mastered using.

I would say get the Tamron only if you need the 600mm reach. Otherwise I would recommend the Nikon.

I would suggest finding a camera store that has all of the models that you’re considering and playing with each of them before making your decision.

If megapixels are really the all-important, be-all, end-all, then why would the Nikon D5 have "only" 20.8MP?

Megapixels are NOT the all-important, be-all, end-all. There are other specs of a camera that are far more important.

I need a new camera for shooting portraiture and have decided to go with Sony. At first I was going to get the Nikon D850 but I changed my mind. Should I get the a7riii or the a7iii? I’m leaning toward the a7iii due to the 693 focus points and 93% focus coverage. Anybody here with experience with both of these cameras?

I bought this lens when it first came out for my d40. I never have used the kit lens again since owning this lens.

It would be helpful to know what you will be shooting in order to make a proper recommendation.
