Since there is now a discussion about UPS, let me give you just one example of how bad USPS is in St. Louis.

I have all my packages delivered to an independent owned hardware store, hence avoiding Porch Pirates. One package to be delivered Saturday by USPS was never delivered. They claim the store was closed during their attempted delivery at 9:30. Interesting since the store was opened at 8AM, and staffed by four employees.

That is typical of USPS here. Maybe it is better where you live.

In my world of central Florida here is how they rank for us (We live in the country & get lots of deliveries, so this is real info).

Best to worst: No. 1 (tie) USPS & UPS, always good, no issues.
No. 2 Amazon Always good now, sometimes to wrong house early on, but very good now, almost into No. 1 group.
No. 3 FEDEX (I used to call them "FEDUP" but they have improved).
No. 4 LazerShip OK now but horrible early on.
Separate category:
No. 5 Various private local or trucking companies - seem to do well (local deliveries) and trucking outfits seem to be very good with larger items like wheel/tires/large TV/furniture/etc.

To be fair: House is set back, wooded driveway (100 ft. in) gate with security (driveway) monitor, Video when coming thru gate into yard. Signs (two places showing address, mailbox and next to driveway entrance), beware of dog (nowdays it's a 3.75 LB Chihuahua indoors - LOL) and signs for No Trespassing & Warning/Video Surveilance/monitored on the gate (always closed but not locked).

USPS & UPS, always on time, always delivered to my house and not somewhere else, rarely any damaged packages, I know I can count on them both.
Amazon does a fine job, missed or wrong address very rare now, I can count on them.
FEDEX, has improved a lot in the last year, I used to dread them prior, but not so bad anymore.
LazerShip has also improved, almost all packages were trouble early on.

Your post is misleading. It fails to explain that with Ebay you get 30 days if the product is NOT AS ADVERTIZED. Meaning, if you don't get the product, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK, if the product, in any way, is not as advertised, meaning, if the seller says it works, and it does not, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK, if the buyer says it is in MINT condition, and it is not, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK, if the seller says everything works on the camera, and you find that something does not work, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
Ebay is VERY SAFE, I have sold 100's of items on ebay and bought well over 1,000 items off ebay.
And yes, I have been SCAMED a couple of times, but I have always, GO MY MONEY BACK.
So, Ebay is SAFE and the BUYER IS PROTECTED.
It' too bad folks sometimes do not know Ebay gives a 30 DAY MONEY BACK guarantee NO MATTER WHAT.
I hope this post helps folks understand Ebay protects you. I have never been let down by the folks at Ebay.
And like I said, I am a TOP SELLER on Ebay and will continue to use them because they are SAFE.
Your post is misleading. It fails to explain that ... (show quote)

I echo these remarks "billnikon" is spot on with his vision of EBAY....it is part of "due diligence" to fully understand a commerce platform, and utilize the capabilities and "safeties" built into said system. Several scam attempts on me (out of hundreds of transactions) have resulted in money back without issue....several have even retracted the cost and told me to keep the item to avoid the Ebay Police. I lost $35 on a scam early in my Ebay days and although not much money the idea of being scammed told me to educate myself to all of Ebay's capabilities. EBAY is safe, just due a little homework, read all the policies and USE DUE DILIGENCE!!!!! It is not difficult nor scary.

If you can't find one (like the AF Micro Nikkor mentioned) reasonable the extension tubes suggestion is spot on, I've even used them as a booster for bird photography, within the limitations of of the zoom's focal length range. No "degradation" and full AF, just closer..... (edit) I meant to say AF Auto Extension tubes, which is what I use, way better than the simple metal extension tubes, although a bit more money.

The Nikon 1 V1 and V2 had EVFs that are quite good.

I have the 1 V1 (and a J1) and use it with a full auto adapter and my AF-P lenses - the 70-300 AF-P VR becomes a 189-810 monster that I can shoot one handed and delivers very fine photos, and attached to a 150/170 to 500/600 MM tele works very well (but you still end up with a tiny camera on a huge lens. No, the resolution is not quite up to what my D7100/7200 series offer, but that does not stop me from making wonderful still life bird photos and other subjects as well. It is not a BIF tracking machine. It and the J1 (one of my snapshot cams) get much the same amount of use as my Sony Nex 6 and A6000 (two more jems in my view).

There is a whole lot more to wonderful photos than "latest greatest/super resolution/high dollar bodies" that everyone seems to think will make them better photographers - NOT - Knowledge/technique can turn average specifications into superb photos, just takes a tad more effort.

The weak link for many of these little wonders is the auto-extension/retraction zoom lenses, they (the lenses) suffer from connection and wire break issues way down inside where repair/parts is non-exsistent. Used with the Nikon 1 full auto adapter this becomes a non-issue. The little lenses are convenient, but if lost it is not a deal breaker, as there are a number of Nikon (and other) lenses that will work wonders....and you are using the sharpest part of those lenses to fill a smaller sensor but get 2.7X crop factor, I like and use mine often.

To each their own: Both styles of photography require extra effort and due dilligence to produce the finest of results (I'm not talking "snapshots") - for SOOC the real work is on the front end and requires extensive knowledge in application of the camera settings (and what they will yield) and the proper attachments/setup to achieve the prized shot - with RAW/PP it is much the same, with the knowledge base enlarged to include the backend workflow to achieve the prize (raw to finished product). I have never shot underwater (have shot thru glass bottomed boats) and do know you have to get past the surface water reflections to see the beauty, same for camera. Both styles have their place in photography, and both can make the shooter happy. It has never earned "argument status" for me, as I use either method when I want...... I will say (my opinion) that RAW/PP allows greater latitude with the ability to tailor the outcome.
Cheers

When I was growing up there were no Fox's in the area, they had been wiped out by that government back in the 1950s in an effort to stop a Rabies epidemic.

Our government being the experts they think they are spread poison baits everywhere which may have contributed to the end of the epidemic or maybe not, no one really knows.

What we do know for sure is it did eliminate all Fox, most of the Wolves, all of the Marten and most of the Fisher.

Around about 1970 a few Foxes moved in from surrounding areas and now we have a normal population of them again.
The ones that came in brought with them a high percentage, relatively speaking, of the dark color phase gene.
This is the gene responsible for Silver and Cross color variants.

A cross Fox is actually the mid point between the Silver, full on recessive gene variant and the Reds. No recessive gene effect apparent.

The Cross variants can range in color almost black, with a tan saddle to the one I am posting photos of today, a very pale individual called a superior Cross.

He's brutally honest about the majority of members on UHH... i.e. aging children...

I shoot the Nikon D7200 on commercial gigs and although it has an "enthusiast" user interface the D7200's sensor remains at the top of Nikon's DX offerings... DxOmark rates it the best of the best.

With dual Card Slots it is very capable of commercial assignments...
And with the MB-D15 grip it is transformed into "Pro" ergonomics...
Endowed with Nikon's Expeed 4 processor it is now commanding higher prices on mpb over the Nikon D800 (Expeed 3)
In (like new) condition you'll pay over well over what mpb is asking for a D800 (in same condition).

Like Paul said, virtually no compelling reason to upgrade...
Unless you are primarily interested in BIF or Action Sports then the Nikon D500 is more germane...
The D7200 truly excels in Portraiture, Fashion, Lifestyle and Landscape..

Please enjoy your amazing D7200, and your photographic journey gdbrede

I've been feeding birds for many years. Hawks come around but because my feeders are near hedges and other living structures, Hawks seem to never catch any (when I'm looking). I've seen them dive bomb the hedges repeately trying to scare out a little bird, but so far never seen them catch one. They must, because the hawks aren't exactly skinny, so they get something to eat.

The real downside to feeding the birds, particularly what I call Sputzies is they throw seed all over the ground. Problem with that is it draws rodents like mice that love chewing wires in your car's, sneaking in your house when the cat's not looking and so on. I wouldn't mind, if they didn't chew wires in my cars, that's where I draw the line. Hawks I figure I'm feeding when I feed the birds.

I enjoy watching the hawks apply their hunting skills trying to nab a bird.
They mostly fail in my yard and hence don't come around that often. If your son is worried about it, tell him to throw the seed where the birds have quick access to cover, like thick hedges and brush or trees.

We do something similar, our feeders and a feeding/blind area are under a cedar tree, with a wire fence (the green coated wire fence) that eleiminates easy access from the sides....it is a wonderful area for the birds, and relatively safe from the hawks, as they can't safely dive into the feeding area. We also have a cat (Katiedid) that grew up with the squirrels/thinks it's a squirrel, doesn't go after birds, but flat out is the best rat/mouser we have ever had, she handles them.... PS....the feeding area is a superb photo blind!!!!

I always do "adult signature" required with any USPS shipments (anything over $100), a D7200 camera I sold to a UHH member prior to Christmas, delivery was held up for a day or two until my purchaser could be there for delivery....it worked well, as it has in the past. I highly recommend the "adult signature" requirement.

One of my all time favorite cameras is my first RAW shooter, the original Sony RX-100. Even the photography editor at the New York Times said it was revolutionary that Sony could get such good results from a small camera.

I'm not using it much now because I want 4K video capability. My wife has two travel cameras she doesn't like and is offering them to B&H. She's getting a fair offer for both and is buying a new travel camera. I suggested she throw in my old RX-100 to sweeten the deal.

The value estimate is only $30! I'm keeping it for a travel backup!

I see MPB selling two RX100 originals for $200/239, I'd imagine they only offer less than $100 for any "buys", cause that's how it works. You can get a good idea of $$ range from Ebay...but you have to read the individual conditions of each sale to make any sense of what you see, and you will see every condition, from pristine to outright junk.
