USPS worse than UPS

Since there is now a discussion about UPS, let me give you just one example of how bad USPS is in St. Louis.

I have all my packages delivered to an independent owned hardware store, hence avoiding Porch Pirates. One package to be delivered Saturday by USPS was never delivered. They claim the store was closed during their attempted delivery at 9:30. Interesting since the store was opened at 8AM, and staffed by four employees.

That is typical of USPS here. Maybe it is better where you live.

Well let's compare FedEx with USPS. I live in a large apartment bldg and when you have a package delivered by FedEx they do not deliver tge package to the apartment they leave it at the front entrance door. Had a $4,000 camera stolen and FedEx had to send me a check and the same driver is still employed by FedEx.

USPS is bad here, too. One postal worker was caught on camera stealing a package that had been delivered by another delivery service. Did they fire her? Nope, moved her to a different route.

The USPS informed mail isn't accurate either. It told me I had a package of medicine arriving and later that day it was listed as delivered. I called the post office and after the (very nice) person on the phone searched he discovered it had been delivered 4 days earlier, which I did receive. So why did the system that showed the package delivered on Friday suddenly become an item not delivered, then delivered days later?

I have very little actual mail. All my bills have been converted to paperless but there are some things that still have to come USPS. It was never the greatest system in the world but it is awful now.

Like you, I've converted all our billing to paperless. I thought the "worse" would have been eliminated. Then, when tax information was mailed out, I learned that my Social Security W2 was never delivered. Never!! I wonder who has it now, along with all the vital information important to me?

Thank you USPS!!

Yes, I learned that if I were to wait until February, then I could get a "copy" of my W2 that way. Still, knowing that courtesy of USPS, my original W2 is not with me. Where is it?

I much prefer USPS to any courier service and have never had a problem with them, in fact if a company won't use USPS I won't deal with them. The same goes double for Canada Post; much better than any courier service and less expensive.

Two thoughts. You live in Canada, so maybe the postal system operates far better. Second, I know there outstanding employees within the USPS. To bad there are not more of them.

Some time back I mailed a check to a location within sight of the Post Office. It took three weeks to get there. More recently I sent a package and a letter to the same location. The package was delivered quickly but the letter took over two weeks to get to the same address. We love our letter carrier but the USPS on the whole is a failure.

I don't have any issues with FedEx, USPS or UPS in my area. Must be my location.

Both UPS and USPS are excellent where I live. Also Amazon deliveries. Oftentimes products that I order get delivered the same day or the next from Amazon.

Because we're in a rural area, we rely (probably too much) on Amazon. Most Amazon stuff comes to us by USPS and the occasional UPS, but USPS is the only one to deliver our Amazon packages on Saturday and Sunday. I had a FedEx package "Out For Delivery" one Saturday. I thought that was odd, as I never had a FedEx or UPS delivery on Saturday. The package came on Monday. The tracking info said "Weather Delay," but we had sunshine all weekend...maybe it was too nice, and they all went to the beach...

I mailed a letter to my bank which is about twelve miles away, ten day later it finally came in their door. I'm paperless to and have all my bills on auto pay never pay a late fee again.

I can certainly understand the delivery challenges in rural areas. We do see Amazon delivery vans all over our neighborhood every day. I’m not exactly sure where they get the packages to deliver, though. Is it all Amazon shipping from their warehouses, for example?

WAIT. Reading Tamsey in Texas, reminded me to tell you all to NOT mail any checks, ever!! Several months ago, I was introduced to "Washed Checks". I wrote a check for $110.00 to an ankle service, and learned that they never received it. Then my bank informed me that I ""wrote"" a check for $4,200. Someone got their hands on that check I wrote, and put into the USPS system. They "washed" the payee and the dollar amounts, up to $4,200. My bank is the one that caught it. They told me to come in, and they will close all of my accounts, including credit and debits cards. Then they would open new accounts for me, to include new debit and credit cards. My bank is so good that before we even completed that process right in the bank, they were notified that the Fraud Department has deposited $4,200 back into my account. They then told me they experience "washed check" at the rate of one a week. As a result, we refuse to write another check, EVER. And yes, there is a way to get around those companies that want to be paid by check.

So, don't write another check. Protect yourself.
